This article contains the results of empirical studies that have been conducted in order to identify the information needs of the Faculty of Management and Command students. The research concerned the necessary information needs of students in the course and organization of studies. In addition, the research process involved identifying opportunities to satisfy the information needs of students through the use of an information system which is the Virtual University and its additional functionality and features. A large part of the article also identifies the “information needs” definition.
