This article is an attempt to show how the gestures called by researchers adaptors function in public dialogue. As shown by the preliminary observations, their specificity is not necessarily related to gender, because in public speaking situations adaptive gestures are performed widely, regardless of the speakers’ degree of familiarity with the cameras, sex, social position or role in a public spectacle. They are rather universal behaviors, indicators of certain universal human emotions associated with speeches of media actors.

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest wykazanie, w jaki sposób zastosowanie paradygmatu narracyjnego może być wykorzystane w inicjowaniu zmiany, jaka dokonuje się w relacjach między związkami zawodowymi a pracodawcą podczas rozwiązywania sporów zbiorowych z zastosowaniem procedury mediacyjnej. Z tej perspektywy zmiana organizacyjna związana jest z dekonstrukcją funkcjonującej narracji i konstrukcji nowej, lepiej spełniającej funkcje adaptacyjne. Podejście zaprezentowane w niniejszym artykule wywodzi się z procesualnego ujęcia organizacji oraz nurtu konstruktywizmu społecznego.

Resistance to change is a way of coping with the uncertainty that are brought about by change. This article introduces the notion of resistance to change. It focuses on its personal sources using the adaptation–innovation theory as formulated by M. Kirton as well as examinations performed by S. Oreg. It also introduces a typology covering personal attitudes to change. Moreover, it points to organizational conditions that fortify resistance to change.
