The main aim of the article is to show the influence of language mistakes within the written language of Włatców móch on language culture and linguistic mistakes of school youth. Nowadays, young people are particularly exposed to mass culture, which is characterized by the desire to reduce the standard language norm to a usable standard. Fashion breaking standards have a major impact on the language behavior of young people. In addition, the dynamic economic and cultural transformations present today’s society in new situations in which everyone must find themselves.As I have shown, functional illiteracy is perceived as a big problem in the developed countries of North America and Europe. Poland is located at one of the lower levels of literacy. Only 3%–7% of adult Polish have a high level of literacy. On the other hand, 15-year studies have shown that every tenth person is with functional illiteracy, and only 6% haven’t problems with receiving and processing information.

These reflections refer to preparing children to the role of an adult member of society. In part I the author discusses life skills determining functioning of an individual, including the phenomenon of functional illiteracy and the meaning of reading and writing skills. Deficiencies in this aspect have long-term effects, like drastic decrease of quality of life. Part II includes reflections about intensification of pedagogical measures carried out by parents and teachers which are indispensable in strenghtening the children's personality. They include, among other things, subjectivity, building a positive image of oneself, self-estimation, believing in oneself and self-efficacy. Only a strong personality potential will allow the children to face the life difficulties in the future.

Rozważania dotyczą konieczności przygotowania dzieci do roli dorosłych członków społeczeństwa. W części I omówiono umiejętności życiowe, determinujące funkcjonowanie jednostki, w tym zjawisko analfabetyzmu funkcjonalnego i znaczenie umiejętności czytania oraz pisania. Braki w tym zakresie niosą dalekosiężne skutki, drastycznie obniżające jakość życia. Część II zawiera przemyślenia na temat konieczności intensyfikacji działań pedagogicznych rodziców i nauczycieli niezbędnych w procesie wzmacniania osobowości dzieci. Obejmują one m.in. ich podmiotowość, budowanie pozytywnego obrazu własnej osoby, samoocenę, wiarę w siebie oraz poczucie sprawstwa. Tylko silny potencjał osobowościowy pozwoli im w przyszłości stawić czoło życiowym trudnościom.

This article discusses the problem of functional illiteracy as a new form of civilisation risk. A new type of human being with specific personality characteristics, shaped by society and the education system, is considered in relation to the globalisation process under the influence of which the total transformation of the classical Russian school has taken place. Similarities between the functional illiteracy of the modern young generation and the model of the future man described in Bertrand Russell’s works are discussed. The research shows that the personality characteristics suggested in the 20th century are becoming a reality. The author draws an analogy between the distinguishing features of a human being belonging to the future, which are regarded as the basic ones in a modern society, and the main needs and interests of proles described by George Orwell in his famous novel. The author advances the argument that there is a close relationship between the model of a human being that is penetrating Russian society and the concept of a clash of civilisations as discussed by Samuel Huntington.

Artykuł poświęcony jest problemowi analfabetyzmowi funkcjonalnemu, będącemu całkowicie nową formą ryzyka cywilizacyjnego. Rozpatrywany jest związek danej charakterystyki współczesnej osobowości jako nowego rodzaju człowieka, kształtowanego dziś przez społeczeństwo i system edukacji, z procesem globalizacji, pod którego wpływem dokonała się całkowita transformacja klasycznej szkoły rosyjskiej. Analizowane są podobieństwa między niektórymi cechami człowieka, w tym także analfabetyzm funkcjonalny, jako typowe cechy statystycznego reprezentanta młodego pokolenia i modelem osobowości przyszłości opisanej w pracach B. Russella. Przytaczane są dane badania eksperymentalnego potwierdzające, że zaplanowane w połowie XX wieku typy osobowości w chwili obecnej stają się rzeczywistością, a formowane dziś charakterystyki psychologiczne są typowymi czechami proli opisanych w słynnej powieści G. Orwella. Wysuwane są argumenty podtrzymujące punkt widzenia, że istnieje ścisły związek między aktywnie przenikającym w społeczeństwo rosyjskie modelem człowieka i koncepcją zderzenia cywilizacji, zaproponowanej przez S. Huntingtona.
