The article presents the growing phenomenon of math illiteracy in Polish society within the context of society, culture, psychological development, and methodology. It examines the complex situation of children beginning math education in combination with school requirements and the opportunities for them to obtain help from their parents. It quotes the results of research concerning the math qualifications of teachers in primary school education. The solution suggested involves improving specifically the math qualifications of those teachers teaching all subjects in primary schools, and an analysis was carried out with regard to the advantages to be expected from the introduction of such a solution.
