Examining the presidential bill, the author presents a number of substantive and interpretive doubts aroused by the proposed provisions. Allowing the associations’ bodies to obtain remuneration violates the legal principle according to which associations are based on unpaid work of their members and reinforces the trend of departure from the traditional model of association. Additionally, this raises doubts as to the remuneration of other members of the association. The entry into force of the proposed provisions for dissolution of a local organizational unit (with legal personality) of an association will obscure the relationship between these provisions and the general principles of dissolution of association. The author also points to the incompatibility of the proposed provisions to repeal resolutions of the association’s bodies by the court to the general provisions of civil law. In his opinion, the bill should more specifically regulate some aspects of the process of associations transitions or mergers. Further legislative work on the bill is needed.

Student scientific movement in Poland is over 150 years old. Its history is best recognized by a model (which is an idealization tool) as the theory of social movements poses too many problems. In this way three models emerge: traditional (1851 - 1947), socialist (1948 - 1989) and contemporary. In all three models a scientific circle is a dominant organization form, having the features of community and association. Institutional processes influence the activity of student movement in a negative way. Stiffening of structures leads to crises as the collective action of this type is strongly dependent on the charisma of local activists. Apart from the issues conditioned by the scientific policy, a number of immanent difficulties is being observed, e.g., the problems of ”fictitious members”, evanescence or lack of professionalism. The review of the solutions present on European universities leads to the conclusion that scientific circles – including all their burdens – are an excellent scientific opportunity for research active students.

In the word class of conjunctions, the paper discerns: (a) exponents of associative predicates, i.e. predicates which connect/link events/propositions by way of a simple association, (b) exponents of temporal links between events, and (c) exponents of causal links between events. The author discusses certain special uses of Polish associative predicates formalized as conjunctions, and concludes that they are also characteristic of the corresponding class of predicates in other languages. She emphasizes their domination in the oral communication and comments on their ability to appear in the secondary function of quasi-particles.

A Deputy may perform the function of vice-president of the association established abroad, unless it combines some kind of broadly understood employment in government or local government institution, with the aim of being a representative of the province in this association. However, a Deputy cannot perform such a function, if that association is an entrepreneur and a municipal legal person is its member or if in the course of its economic activity the association uses state or municipal property. Deputies are obliged to inform the Marshal of the Sejm about his/her additional activities, and to disclose obtained remuneration in the Register of Interests. Such remuneration may affect the amount of a Deputy’s salary

The Sodality movement has been initiated in the 16th c. and it was around then that the first sodality organizations were created in Poland. The Sodality of Our Lady for Women Students and Female Participants of Higher Courses in Krakow was founded in 1906; it co-created the Krakow sodality movement in the interwar period together with the Sodality Movement of the Academicians at the Jagiellonian University, the Sodality Movement of the Academicians of the Academy of Mining and the Sodality Movement of the Students of the Higher Commercial College in Krakow. In 1925 the Sodality of Our Lady for Women Students and Female Participants of Higher Courses in Krakow became transformed into the Sodality of Our Lady for Women Academicians and when the ruling concerning academic associations was introduced in 1933, the organization had changed its name into: Sodality of Our Lady for Women Students of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. The latter organization had laid special emphasis on religious instruction and spiritual formation of its female members, which is a characteristic feature of all sodality movements. But apart from the activity which was focused on the spiritual sphere, the Sodality movement also provided assistance in the strictly material sphere both to sodality members and persons from outside the organization – among others, to children, those in need of material aid or the sick who were undergoing treatment in St. Lazarus or St. Ludwig Hospitals in Kraków

The purpose of this paper is to examine the development of agricultural associations in Bohemia during the rise of the Czech agrarian movement, from the 1870s–1890s, focusing on the agricultural circle called beseda. Exploring how they spread and how rural inhabitants began to participate in political discussions and parliamentary politics, using these associations as a platform, this paper suggests the necessity to place the rise of the Czech agrarian movement in the broader context of an expanding public sphere and the social transformation after the abolition of hereditary subjection.

The paper presents the analysis of the semantic shifts in the lexical meaning of the lexeme bespredel (mayhem). The lexeme penetrates into the literary language from the jargon of criminals in 1990; its frequency dramatically increased in media and oral public communication. The shifts in its semantics were triggered by social transformations during Russian perestroika due to deconstruction of the socialist economy and political system. Bespredel in literary Russian acquired the meaning ‘extreme degree of chaos, when a person feels helplessness and vulnerability owing to violation of laws and rules’. According to the Russian national corpus, the word belongs to the media discourse while being rarely used in literature.

The article focusses on the analysis of migrants’ leisure activities with the example of Polish minority in Brno. Based on participant observation and interviews with Polish migrants who spent at least one year in Brno, it is possible to reveal the diversity in leisure activities as well as common trends occurring during free time. Migrants’ understanding of free time in their new destination is encumbered by the context of the place of origin and the customs formed there. The analysis of migrants’ leisure activities shows the level of migrants’ integration and their interest in active participation in the life in their new environment. During their free time, they maintain contacts with their country of origin – family, friends, and cultural background. Migrants’ specific habitus is created, which can be implemented due to their stay “here” and “there” (most migrants use their free time to travel home), and the trans-national identity is constructed. Free time also becomes a space for more or less official meetings of Poles within their own language and ethnic group.

This article aims to analyse and assess legal regulations concerning associations as a feature of civil society. In this context, reference is made to the essence of civil society. It should be emphasised that such a society constitutes the foundation of a democratic state under the rule of law. The article presents legal regulations concerning the right to freedom to associate in associations. According to the provisions of the Polish Constitution, the Republic of Poland ensures the freedom of establish and operate trade unions, socio-professional organizations of farmers, associations, citizen movements, and other voluntary unions and foundations, and also guarantees freedom of association to everyone. The article also discusses the notion and attributes of an association, the activities of associations in practice, as well as the problems they face in these areas. The existing legal regulations concerning the establishment and functioning of associations should be assessed positively. However, they are not free of faults. Introducing a less formal process of applying for grants and curbing excessive bureaucracy would be a change for the better in Polish legislation. This would lead to increased cooperation between NGOs and public administration. It needs to be stressed that until non-governmental organisations, including associations, are treated as an equal partner of public administration, we cannot speak about the existence of civil society in Poland.

Wśród działaczy zanikła postawa inicjatywna, a jej miejsce zajęła apatia i bezproduktywność. Wraz z chaosem organizacyjno-prawnym i problemami natury finansowej doprowadziło to do stagnacji prac Komitetu, również tych zmierzających do wewnętrznego uregulowania prawnych podstaw funkcjonowania.

The Polish Committee of the Olympic Games was the first Polish Olympic structure. The organizational and legal form of its activity was the association. The Committee’s activity was therefore subject to universally binding law and internal law. While there were sources of universally binding law, in 1919–1925 The Polish Committee of the Olympic Games probably acted on the basis of a very imperfect draft statue. Especially during the second and third term of the Committee’s Board, no efforts were made to pass the statue. The reasons for this state of affairs can be found within the Committee itself. Among the activists, the attitude of initiative disappeared, and apathy and unproductiveness took its place. Along with the organizational and legal chaos and financial problems, this led to stagnation of the Committee’s work, including that aimed at internal regulation of the legal basis for its functioning.

The present article refers to a free associative experiment and its results. The author tries to determine what values are represented with the term “woman” in Russian and Polish societies. The article is focused on similarities as well as differences between the Polish and Russian respondents. In order to achieve this, the author classified and divided the lexis proposed by the respondents into groups. Those groups were thoroughly discussed and analyzed. By doing this, the author tries to look into the subconsciousness of a young modern person. Thus, in the article the answers to the following questions can be found: do stereotypes concerning women still exist?; what do Poles and Russians think about that?; is their way of thinking convergent or not? The experiment described in the article was conducted during 2011–2013 among 100 Poles and 200 Russians under the age of 30. It was carried out by means of series  of surveys; in these surveys respondents were asked to provide words and expressions they associate with the term “woman”. Classified lexical units were then analyzed, the conclusion was drawn on the basis of this analysis. The text is divided into parts. Every part revolves around classification of responses of both groups: first group - Russians (both men and women), second - Poles (men and women). The assignment comprises four diagrams that picture the percentage of responses in the groups.

The review article was devoted to the publication by Grzegorz Krawiec entitled „The act on rural housewives’ circles. Comment”. On the basis of the Act on Rural Housewives’ Circles of November 9, 2018, a separate organizational formula was created for KGW, which are voluntary, independent and self-governing social organizations of rural residents. Based on the previously applicable legal regulations, KGW could be established within agricultural circles as their independent units. They could also function in the form of associations. An important statutory solution is to grant KGW a legal personality, which allows them to run a business on their own account and benefit from financial support from public funds. KGW operates on the basis of the adopted statute, which specifies in particular: the name and seat of the circle, the objective and territorial scope of the circle’s activities, goals and tasks of the circle and the means of their implementation, the method of acquiring and losing membership, the assets of the circle and the method of administering these assets, the way of representing the circle. outside, the rights and obligations of members, the bodies of the circle and their powers, the conditions for adopting and valid resolutions of the bodies of the circle, the procedure for changing the statute and liquidating the circle.

Artykuł recenzyjny został poświęcony publikacji Grzegorza Krawca pt. „Ustawa o kołach gospodyń wiejskich. Komentarz”.

W feudalnym ładzie społecznym rodzina była wielopokoleniową wspólnotą mocno zakorzenioną w przeszłości i tradycji, z jasno określonym podziałem społecznych ról przypisywanych poszczególnym jej członkom. Dziewiętnaste stulecie diametralnie zmienia społeczno-ekonomiczny porządek i strukturę społecznego świata.

In a feudal social order family was a multigenerational community firmly established in the past and tradition, with clearly determined social roles assigned to individual members. 19th century diametrically changed social-economic order and structure of social world. It also started deep changes of family community. Large, multigenerational family is falling into pieces, family ties are weakening, the past is being replaced by present and arising future. Family, which was a community, is becoming a group with clearly associational character.

Background The aim of this study has been to examine the association between climate conditions (CC) and hospital admissions for the subcategories of cardiovascular diseases (CVD), according to patients’ age. Material and Methods From January 2010 through December 2011, the daily number of hospital admissions for angina pectoris (AP), essential hypertension (EH), acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and ischemic heart diseases (IHD) for adults (19–64 years old) and the elderly (≥ 65 years old), as well as for the CC (N = 728 days) was collected for multivariate Poisson regression analysis, confounding with season and weekends. The results were expressed by using the relative risk with the corresponding 95% confidence interval. Results The risk for the AMI among the adults and the elderly is significantly higher for 41.8% and 38.9%, respectively on the days with lower ambient temperature and lesser for 32.7% and 29.8%, respectively on the days with lower air pressure values. The risk for the IHD among the elderly is significantly higher on the days with lower ambient temperature and lower relative humidity for 50.6% and 37.4%, respectively. Conclusions Our findings explain how the CC and subcategories of CVD are associated, which could be used for adequate public awareness of the risk for hospitalization due to climate conditions.
