The article is devoted to the stages of the construction of the Pałac Kultury i Nauki in Warsaw - from the proposal of the construction to the handing over of the building by the Soviet authorities to the Polish party. On the basis of research the author established that the deputy prime minister of the U.S.S.R., Vyacheslav Mikhaylovich Molotov, suggested the construction of the palace on 22 July 1951 instead of 3 July, according to some research works. Then the author describes the circumstances of the creation of the plans of the construction of the high -rise as well as the signing of agreements concerning the initiation of the endeavour to erect the PKiN which was a logistic challenge. Owing to a search query in the archives the author attempted to present the realities of the collaboration between Polish and Soviet labourers which had little to do with the ones presented by the propaganda of that time. For example, on the basis of declassified documents the author managed to provide the number of Poles who lost their lives during the construction of the PKiN.

Autor w formie glosy aprobującej komentuje tezę postanowienia Sądu Najwyższego z 28 października 2016 r. w sprawie o sygnaturze V KK 258/16 wskazującą, że pomimo faktu poruszania się po terenie budowy pojazdów w sposób reglamentowany i dopuszczenia do jazdy po nim wyłącznie określonych, upoważnionych do tego osób, to z uwagi na powierzchnię terenu budowy, liczbę poruszających się po niej pojazdów oraz konieczność zapewnienia sprawnej i bezpiecznej organizacji ruchu, bezsprzecznie stwierdzić należało, że obowiązywały na nim reguły ruchu drogowego.

Graboszyce is a village known from thirteenth century historical records whose ownership has passed through many hands. In the fourteen century and in the first half of fifteen century, the manor may have been located in the same place where we can see today's building. It might have been a complex of wooden buildings, which have left no traces. For a long time, Graboszyce belonged to the Brandys, a family of knights who originated from the Czech lands. At the end of the fifteen century and at the beginning of the sixteenth century, Klemens Brandys is mentioned living in the manor by the Radwan crest. During his ownership, the first brick manor was built (at least the lower part was), which remains as today’s cellars. In 1565, Graboszyce belonged to Dziwisz (Dionizy) Brandys, the king`s courtier and secretary. In the years 1570-1580, he built the Renaissance mansion which still stands in the village today. The mansion was built by anonymous builders who were inspired by architects Pietro Cataneo and Sebastian Serlio. The builders of the Graboszyce Manor wanted to implement the characteristical traits for the era such as the symmetry in buildings designed by the Italian architect Santi Guci. In eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, the manor went through renovations, without changing its original layout.

Presenting architectural content in the work The Tunnel by Magdalena Parys is the purpose of this article. The author analizes the connection beetwen The Tunnel's heores and their surround-ings. Each entity experiences a complicated relationship between themselves and the environ-ment. By capturing the opposition of unity and multiplicity the characters of the novel are able to recognize and get to know themselves.

The article describes cost studies occurring in the initial planning phase of investment The differences between such studies in the area of public procurement and private procurement were presented. The differences in the methodology of calculation of the Estimate Value of Investments and Planned Costs of Design and the Planned Costs of Construction Works were discussed also. It also describes the development of cost calculations occurring in the phase of preparation and implementation of construction. Studies performed have been presented by both the investor and the contractor sides. Cost studies have been presented were briefly characterized.

Many books of the Old Testament deal with the theme of human building activity. Among Old Testament narratives it is possible to distinguish the special ones which present a special kind of activity undertaken as a result of divine inspiration addressed to the leader of the Israel community. This way the leader becomes the leader-builder of Israel’s sanctuary (Herod the Great is omitted here because he is not mentioned in the text of the Old Testament). One can specify a few special attributes of the leader-builder of the sanctuary: the obedience and the trust in God, the piety, the prudence, the solicitude, the authority and the courage. The essential goal of the analysis in this paper is to expose those attributes.

Wiele ksiąg Starego Testamentu podejmuje tematykę ludzkiej działalności budowlanej. Wśród narracji starotestamentalnych daje się wyróżnić takie, które przedstawiają szczególny rodzaj tej działalności, podjętej w wyniku Bożej inspiracji adresowanej do przywódcy wspólnoty Izraela. W ten sposób ten przywódca staje się przywódcą-budowniczym sanktuarium Izraela (pominięto Heroda Wielkiego, jako że nie wymienia go tekst Starego Testamentu). Można wyróżnić kilka szczególnych przymiotów przywódcy-budowniczego sanktuarium Izraela: posłuszeństwo oraz zawierzenie Bogu, pobożność, roztropność, solidność, autorytet oraz męstwo. Wyeksponowanie owych przymiotów stanowi zasadniczy cel artykułu.

Much of the energy used in the world is associated with the construction sector, and one of the ways to reduce that energy consumption is to do each constructive process in an energetically efficient way. The aim of this paper is to present results from an energy efficiency program in the construction of a business complex in Hermosillo, Mexico, particularly in the processes of reinforcing steel activities (rebar). Results reveal that appropriate use of equipment and the coordination between engineers and workers help to improve the energy efficiency during the construction phase also reducing material waste. Additionally, attaching the energy efficiency approach to the cleaner production framework is a complicated task due to energy inefficiencies are not easily identified and estimated. Since there is less energy consumption in construction process along the life cycle of buildings compared to operation activities, there is little evidence on energy efficiency studies in that part of the process. Therefore, this paper intends to provide experiences to construction experts in order to have better basis for decisions related to energy efficiency in this industry.

Duża część konsumpcji energii na świecie przypada na sektor budowlany, a jedną z metod redukcji tego zużycia jest przeprowadzenie każdego procesu budowlanego w sposób wydajny energetycznie. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie wyników programu na rzecz wydajności energetycznej związanego z budową kompleksu biznesowego w Hermosillo w Meksyku, a zwłaszcza z użyciem stali zbrojeniowej (prętów zbrojeniowych). Wyniki wskazują, że właściwe wykorzystanie sprzętu oraz koordynacja pomiędzy inżynierami i pracownikami pomaga poprawić wydajność energetyczną w fazie budowy oraz ograniczyć odpady. Co więcej, włączenie podejścia opartego na wydajności energetycznej w ogólne podstawy czystszej produkcji jest skomplikowanym zadaniem z tego powodu, że niewydajność energetyczna jest trudna do zidentyfikowania i oszacowania. Dlatego też mniejsza konsumpcja energii w procesie budowlanym w całym cyklu życia budynków w porównaniu do działalności produkcyjnej nie odzwierciedla się w dowodach w postaci badań nad wydajnością energetyczną w tej części procesu. Niniejszy artykuł ma na celu zaprezentowanie doświadczenia ekspertów budowlanych, aby wesprzeć proces decyzyjny związany z wydajnością energetyczną w analizowanym przemyśle.
