The author analyzes changes in the population of 16 voivodships that occurred between 1999-2018 as a result of the birth rate, as well as the balance of domestic and foreign migration. He divided the period in question into four 5-year subperiods. The most favorable demographic processes in all voivodships took place in 2009-2013. Taking into account the course of demographic processes, the author separated 3 groups of voivodships: those characterized by total population growth (table 1), total actual loss over the period of 20 years (table 2) and time-related demographic changes (table 3). During these 20 years the first group showed an actual increase in population of 729 453, the remaining 11 voivodships showed a decrease of 919 755. In the final part of the article, the author used Webb’s method to characterize the voivodships in terms of natural increase: migration balance ratio. Group 1 voivodships showed the best results in the given aspects.

1), ubytkiem rzeczywistym w całym okresie 20 lat (tabl. 2), zmiennością w czasie przebiegu procesów demograficznych (tabl. 3). Grupa pierwsza w ciągu 20 lat wykazała przyrost rzeczywisty ludności w wysokości 729 453, pozostałe 11 województw wykazało ubytek w liczbie 919 755. W końcowej części artykułu autor, stosując metodę W. Webba, dokonał typologii województw pod względem relacji przyrost naturalny - saldo migracji. Najkorzystniej pod tym względem wypadły województwa grupy 1.
