We provide an annotated coding scheme for other-initiated repair, along with guidelines for building collections and aggregating cases based on interactionally relevant similarities and differences. The questions and categories of the scheme are grounded in inductive observations of conversational data and connected to a rich body of work on other-initiated repair in conversation analysis. The scheme is developed and tested in a 12-language comparative project and can serve as a stepping stone for future work on other-initiated repair and the systematic comparative study of conversational structures.

A metaphor within the framework of semiotics can be embodied in various semiotic systems, which is a prerequisite for a multilateral, in-depth analysis of its generation and interpretation. The purpose of the article is the conceptualisation of metaphor in the framework of semiotics and analysis using methods of analogy and transference. One of the main problems of metaphor theory is to provide means to represent the process of metaphor generation for understanding the nature of the phenomenon. The use of the offered methods in metaphor generation and interpretation opens up a multifaceted understanding of the object under study.

The intention of this article is to demonstrate, within the framework of cognitive linguistics (Lakoff and Johnson, 1980a), how slang words associated with substance abuse are conceptualized via metaphors. This study analyses recreational drug slang terms found in the Drug Slang Dictionary in order to reveal categories of metaphors involved in drug users’ language. The results of the data analysis effectively reveal that, within a thematic approach, classes of metaphor are coded to enable connections between metaphorical concepts and drug addicts’ physiological experiences in order to present their personal meanings and cognitive processes. The study also involves drug addicts’ narratives to identify conceptual metaphors in their experiences. Notably, it is argued within this research that figurative language use is also connected to the cultural background of users to a great extent.

Agnieszka Iwanicka, Od biernego odbiorcy do aktywnego mediakreatora – małe dzieci i TIK w świetle badań własnych [From passive recipients to active mediacreators: small children and ICT in the light of own studies]. Interdyscyplinarne Konteksty Pedagogiki Specjalnej, nr 23, Poznań 2018. Pp. 143-160. Adam Mickiewicz University Press. ISSN 2300-391X. DOI: https://doi.org/10.14746/ikps.2018.23.08 Small children show a lot of media activity: they are perfectly capable of handling new technologies, they have been using them since the first years of their life. What activities they show depends on the family home and the behaviors they observe with their parents. With their support and providing positive patterns, the child can become not only a passive media user, but also an active media content creator, a kind of mediacreator, which over time will have a real impact on the reality in which he grows up. In the article, I present some of the results of the my research, in which I checked what role the media plays in the life of a child in an early school age. I try to answer the question, what media activities are displayed by children – whether it is only passive and imitative, or maybe they are actively creating media content.

In the given article the following assumption has been put forward: repeats are one of the means of “ornate words braiding” formation. They play the main role in the arrangement of sacral texts meaning. The following method of meaning function analysis of “ornate words braiding” has been tested: from structure to meaning. The given research paces have been implemented: 1 – syntactical models of repeats have been revealed, 2 – the semantics of lexical units building up the repeats has been analyzed, 3 – semantic classification of repeats has been performed, 4 – the role of repeats in the meaning content have been interpreted. Semantic analysis is based on ontological (realistic) meaning theory, while describing of words meaning various historical dictionaries are used.

Artyzm czy rzemiosło? Jakże często to pytanie można odnieść do nauczania informatyki w szkole.

There is a longstanding debate whether computer science education is art or craft. There is no doubt that computer graphics and website design, apart from technical skills, require some degree of invention and creativity, some artistic sense. Maybe the same concerns skills related to algorithmic thinking and programming, which are very important in view of changes in the syllabus of IT teaching that are being introduced. Today, programming provides a possibility to reveal unconventional ideas, original thinking and unconventional solutions due to the wealth of tools and, above all, students’ inventiveness. Thus, it may be treated as art, contrary to the widespread belief that coding involves pure craft.

This article analyses social functions of a watermark placed in the content of digitalized artefacts of heritage. It presents the weaknesses of this way of protecting collections, prone to decoding and taking over, and still referring to the base of a digital copy (object – centeredness). It describes the pattern of comments on heritage, whose media is a watermark. Eventually, a watermark does no longer have to be a tool or a helping hand in the commercialization of collections, but it becomes an attempt to protect the canon, a confirmation of institution’s significance – as a depositary of artefacts, but also of the knowledge about them, and even a certain kind of ethical act.

Contemporary educational system challenges teachers of kindergarten and primary education to teach children how to code. Adults, to be properly prepared to execute this task, often need some training – students during studies on Pedagogy specialisation while professionally active pedagogues during various forms of vocational courses. It is vitally useful to mainly practise meth

The author of the text tries to introduce the reader to the factors related to the creation of a new core curriculum statement from February 14, 2017. It brings the reader closer to macroeconomic data concerning the labor market from the country and the world. Then it presents educational trends in other countries that focus on computational thinking. Subsequently, the analysis of the new core curriculum statement in the context of computational thinking is presented. The summing-up element is the reference to the most common practices and activities in Poland and in the world proclaimed for education in the field of computational thinking.
