The main objective of this paper was to develop a graphical presentation of a measure of an employee’s competence (ECVM) for a job position. In this context, the essence and formula for measuring the value of an employee’s competences have been presented. This formula makes it possible to provide a definition of the method for determining the total value of all the competences in the competence profile and the value of an employee’s competences. With regard to the graphical presentation of the measure, it was assumed that the most appropriate form will be a pie chart. The key assumption was such that each competence in the profile would be a segment (slice) of the pie chart. An example of the graphical presentation of the measure of the employee competencies has been presented.

Mentoring is a feature of the organization for which it is important to develop human resources. It is used very often when planning a career of employee, during the organizational changes and changes in the workplace. High-class mentoring is associated with competence, experience and a clearly defined role of mentor. The effectiveness and success of this process depends on the mentor personality and their skills becasue mentor is responsible for building relationships with mentees and their personal and professional development. The aim of this article is to present the results of the research of mentors’ competence and build on the basis of their competence Competency Model for mentor. The presented model covers 15 competencies of perfect mentor. Minimum level required to allow for proper and effective performance of the mentor is defined for each competence. Developed competency profile can be used for all organizations implementing mentoring to finding the right mentor.

The objective of this article is to present possibilities of using educational mechanisms to design offers which take into account the need for developing social competence of adults. Therefore, selected suggestions concerning defining and perceiving the role of social competence in a general competence profile of an adult have been given. The author presents the issue in terms of both the labour market requirements and challenges that organizers of educational offer for the learning adults face. In order to exemplify the complexity of the issue of working with adults on their social development, the concept of experiential education has been presented. The concept was selected due to the fact that it can be applied in regard to creating educational effects aiming at enhancing entrepreneurial and proactive attitudes.

Szczególny wpływ na rozwój funkcji personalnej wywierają nowe modele struktur organizacyjnych, ukierunkowane na zwiększenie zwinności funkcjonowania. Wydaje się, że w polskiej literaturze przedmiotu oraz w praktyce zarządzania czynnik ten nie jest w odpowiednim stopniu doceniony. W związku z tym celem artykułu jest przedstawienie koncepcji zwinnego zarządzania kapitałem ludzkim (ZKL), dostosowanej do specyfiki zwinnych organizacji. Na podstawie wyników badań empirycznych analizowane są warunki i bariery stosowania zwinnego ZKL w polskiej praktyce. Wśród nich kluczowe dla jego skuteczności są opinie pracowników na temat sprawiedliwości wynagradzania.

New models defining the structure of organizations that are aimed at increasing functional agility have a special impact on the development of the personnel function. It seems that this factor is not aptly appreciated in Polish topical literature or in management practice. Thus, the goal of the article is to present the concept of agile human capital management as specifically adapted to the agile organization. Empirical research is used as a basis for analyzing conditions and barriers to human capital management in Polish practice. Of key importance for effectiveness is employee opinion regarding fair remuneration.

W latach 2006–2012 w Zakładzie Ubezpieczeń X (jedna z wiodących organizacji ubezpieczeniowych w Polsce, nazwa utajniona z powodu poufności omawianych danych) do oceny kompetencji kandydatów na kierowników grup sprzedaży stosowano badania metodą assessment center (AC). Celem badania opisanego w artykule było porównanie zachowań prezentowanych przez osoby kandydujące na stanowisko kierownika grupy (KG) ze wzorcem skutecznych zachowań menedżera, opisanym w profilu kompetencyjnym dla tego stanowiska pracy.

Insurance Company X (a leading insurance company in Poland whose real identity must remain confidential due to the data discussed) applied the assessment center (AC) evaluation method over the years 2006–2012 to assess the competence of candidates for unit manager. The aim of the study as described in the article is to compare the behaviors of candidates for the position of unit manager with the pattern of behaviors of effective managers as described in the competency profile for the job.

The methodological expert is the leader of the expert team in the process of developing information about occupations. This person has an important function as a link between the expert team and the evaluation experts (reviewers and evaluators) as well as validators (members of the validation and quality team) who verify the descriptions of occupations. In addition to the managerial and methodological function, the methodological expert takes an active part in the development and making modifications in the content of the descriptions according to his or her best knowledge about occupations and available sources of information.
