Modern companies compete by high value for customers. That is why, to achieve the successes in a market, they must have a better offer than their competitors, providing customers with added value. For that purpose, they should create and develop the key competencies, which are the set of different skills, complementary resources and procedures, that underpin the company’s competitive capabilities and sustainable advantage. They must also create and develop competencies of individual employees, because the competencies, skills and knowledge of the personnel are the base for developing company’s key competencies. The aim of the article is to highlight the importance of creating and developing key competencies in the organization and the necessity of implementation the competencies management system, which must be closely connected with the human resources management system.

Współczesne firmy konkurują przewagą wartości dla klienta. Dlatego też, aby osiągnąć sukces na rynku, muszą posiadać lepszą ofertę niż konkurenci, zapewniając klientom istotną wartość dodaną. W tym celu powinny one tworzyć i rozwijać kluczowe kompetencje, będące zestawem zróżnicowanych umiejętności, komplementarnych zasobów i procedur, które stanowią podstawę zdolności konkurencyjnej firmy i trwałej przewagi w danej dziedzinie. Muszą one także rozwijać kompetencje indywidualnych pracowników, ponieważ kompetencje, kwalifikacje i wiedza personelu stanowią bazę do rozwoju kluczowych kompetencji całego przedsiębiorstwa. Celem referatu jest podkreślenie znaczenia tworzenia kluczowych kompetencji w organizacji oraz konieczności wprowadzenia systemu zarządzania kompetencjami ściśle powiązanego z systemem zarządzania zasobami ludzkimi.
