The study deals with correspondence voting as one of the so-called alternative voting procedures. This analysis covers selected European and non-European countries. The aim of the study is to show the characteristics of the above said alternative voting procedure, as well as to assess the practical consequences of its functioning. The issues concerning doubts regarding the functioning of the principles of direct nature and secrecy of voting in the context of the application of correspondence voting procedure are also discussed. Another subject of discussion is the infl uence of corresponding voting on actual increase in the voting turnout and the reliability of the electoral process.
