Adam’s Story in the Qur’an

The Qur’ān contains only fragments of Adam’s story in six differ- ent sūras, apart from several minor references. These may be arranged into five thematic chapters: (1) the creation of man; (2) adoration by angels; (3) Satan’s dis- obedience; (4) the fall of Adam; (5) Adam’s genealogy. The aim of the present study is to name the essentials of the Qur’ānic notion of man as a creature endowed with reason. Adam as the specimen of the human race is bound to obey God’s pre- scriptions. He fails, repents, and is received back and guided. In this way he is considered as the first in the row of prophets of God’s unicity.

Antropologia patrystyczna wypływa z refleksji nad natchnionymi teksta­mi Pisma Świętego, które nadają jej szczególną i wyjątkową rangę. Badając Objawienie Boże w kluczu antropologicznym, najstarsi myśliciele chrześcijańscy skupili się przede wszystkim na Księdze Rodzaju i listach Pawłowych, gdyż te właśnie teksty ukazują wyraźnie naturę człowieka i jego transcendentne powołanie, umieszczając je bądź to w szeroko rozumianym tle teologicznym, bądź to na płaszczyźnie chrystologicznej. Elementy określające byt ludzki odnajdujemy głównie w opisie stworzenia. Ponieważ jednak wchodzą one w relację z innymi danymi biblijnymi, opis ten musi pozostawać w łączności z pozostałymi filarami objawienia, a szczególnie z wcieleniem Słowa Bożego, które podnosi ludzką cielesność do godności pod­łoża (substratu) Osoby Chrystusa, i ze zmartwychwstaniem ciał, które ukazuje materię jak rzeczywistość ściśle należącą do definicji osoby. Ojcowie Kościoła uchwycili tę głęboką spójność i odczytali temat stworzenia człowieka na obraz Boży w kluczu chrystologicznym i eschatologicznym.

The great variety of conceptions of the genesis of man and the world is amazing. Even their classification is an extremely difficult thing, not to mention an attempt to assess their conformity to the teaching of the Church. According to the key accepted in the present article strictly theological theories (theological and biblical creationism) and progressive creationism aspire to be in conformity with the Catholic teaching. Theistic evolutionism also could be accepted on certain conditions and understood in a certain way, although the author expresses his skeptical attitude as to the possibility of presenting such an interpretation of it that still would not be progressive creationism, and would overcome all the aporias indicated in the analysis.

Finished in 2015 in Rome synod, devoted to the issues of marriage and family shows the paramount importance of a reminder and consolidation of the existing Church teaching on the fundamental topic of marriage and family in the face of emerging divergence in the interpretation of both the Magisterium of the Church and the Bible. Pope Benedict XVI in his encyclical Caritas in veritate speaks of the need to understand love according to the principles of truth (CV 2), because you can never separate love and truth. Both concepts coexist, they not only complement each other but are also responsible for their contents. Love gives life to truth, and truth orders love not to undergo illusory and false hope or promote attitudes that have nothing in common with truth and love . Both of these values are in marriage and family of prime importance for human life. The article recalls fundamental truth of these institutions included in the inspired text in the context of the origins of humanity.

Zakończony w roku 2015 w Rzymie synod, poświęcony tematyce o małżeństwie i rodzinie, ukazuje pierwszorzędną wagę przypomnienia i ugruntowania dotychczasowego nauczania Kościoła na fundamentalny temat małżeństwa i rodziny wobec pojawiających się rozbieżności w interpretowaniu zarówno magisterium Kościoła, jak i biblijnego tekstu natchnionego. Papież Benedykt XVI w swej encyklice Caritas in veritate mówi o konieczności uporządkowania miłości według zasad prawdy (CV 2), ponieważ nigdy nie można rozdzielać miłości i prawdy. Oba pojęcia współistnieją ze sobą, nie tylko się uzupełniając, lecz wpływając decydująco na swą zawartość. Miłość ożywia prawdę, zaś prawda porządkuje miłość, by nie ulec złudnym i zafałszowanym nadziejom lub promocji postaw niemających ani z prawdą, ani z miłością wiele wspólnego. Obie te wartości mają w małżeństwie i rodzinie pierwszorzędne znaczenie dla życia człowieka. Poniższy artykuł przypomina fundamentalne prawdy o tych instytucjach zawarte w tekście natchnionym w kontekście początków ludzkości.
