Do zadań samorządu województwa należy kształtowanie polityki rozwoju regionalnego. Narzędziem, które służy do planowania kierunków tego rozwoju oraz wyznacza cele i działania jest Strategia Rozwoju Województwa. Na Dolnym Śląsku obowiązuje strategia, która obejmuje okres do 2020 r. W chwili obecnej podlega ona procesowi aktualizacji. W związku z tym, zasadne jest pytanie, czy w procesie aktualizacji (w przypadku województwa dolnośląskiego) bądź tworzenia nowej strategii, można wykorzystać badania metodami foresight. Badania te charakteryzują się przede wszystkim tym, że wykorzystują wiedzę ekspertów w danej dziedzinie, temacie, branży do pokazania ich możliwych kierunków lub stanów rozwoju w określonej przyszłości.

One of the tasks of the regional authorities is to create regional development policy. A proper tool which is used for planning of the development and set goals is the Regional Development Strategy. Lower Silesian strategy covers the period up to 2020. At present this Strategy is being updated. Therefore, it is reasonable to pose a question whether the update process (in the case of Lower Silesia), or the creation of a new strategy can be supported by foresight methods. This method is characterized by the fact that it is based on expert’s knowledge in a particular field of science, subject, industry to show the possible developmental directions or conditions of development in the future.
