Ladislav Hejdánek a literární historie?:

100%
EN
This paper deals with Ladislav Hejdánek’s philosophical thought and its possible influences on the history of literature. Attention is focused on two problem areas: first on Hejdánek’s work on the nature of art, which was of substantial importance, particularly in the cultural and social polemics of the 1960s, as his theoretical definition of art went along similar lines to reader response criticism and Umberto Eco’s ideas. However, in view of his considerable detachment from the literature of the object it did not provide any initiatives that had a significant impact on literary studies concepts. Hejdánek’s non-object process philosophy, centring around the concept of the event, may be considered to be of greater importance. Here it is possible to seek tools for a more dynamic non-essential conception of periodization, and more than anything else, individual frameworks (genres, directions and discourses) with broader applicability.

This study presents the outline of a possible definition of literary poetics in Czech fictional prose in the latter half of the 19th century. It is based on the outline conceived by Dalibor Tureček and his team (Parnassianism and Realism), but points out the inadequately treated issue of Realism and the division of Parnassianism into two more or less distinct areas, while considering the possible condensation of the conceptual space in question. It arrives at a definition of a new poetics – Ideal Realism, which it distinguishes from Parnassianism and (Analytical) Realism. The conclusion of the study then sketches out the opportunities offered by the context of foreign, particularly Central European, literatures and the context of other types of literature (poetry and drama). The entire text, conceived as a consideration of this specific segment of Czech literary history, is meant to be a discussion piece that needs to be subjected to more extensive criticism before its completion and application.

The article offers an analysis of Bohumil Hrabal’s novel Příliš hlučná samota (Too Loud a Solitude) as a literary reflection of the history of censorship and book destruction in Bohemia. In terms of media theory, this history is a counterpart to the history of letter printing. Haňťa represents an anachronistic reader, resisting book destruction by insisting on a corporealistic, sensual notion of literature, which is inspired most notably by the work of François Rabelais. Thus, Hrabal offers a critique of the decline of reading culture in the Socialist era that is not just a political comment, but also an artistic vision of the beauty of destruction as well as a complex critique of writing and reading.

Článek podává rozbor Hrabalovy Příliš hlučné samoty jakožto literární reflexe historie cenzury a ničení knih v Čechách.

This article examines how literature education has changed in Finnish upper secondary school and what kind of theoretical background assumptions are made in the processing of literature. Early on, the aim of teaching literature in Finnish upper secondary schools was to emphasize national identity. Literary works about Finnish people were considered the strength of the young nation. The teaching of literature focused on learning national literature, and on knowing the authors and their works. From the 1950s onwards, new criticism influenced the teaching of literature, and close reading became the key tool for approaching literature. Gradually, the teaching of literature expanded from national literature to young adults’ literature, popular literature, and contemporary literature. In the 1980s, various literary approaches and background theories were emphasized in the learning materials. However, current literary teaching is still tied to new critical and formalistic theory. At the end of the article, the question is asked whether it would be necessary to change this approach so that literature would continue to attract young readers.

On the anniversary year of both the death and birth of Czech lawyer Viktorin Kornel ze Všehrd, the text is mainly devoted to exploring the existing research on Všehrd since the last major conference in 1960. The older research before this conference was dominated by legal historians. But the generational changes among them – the aging and dying of a strong older generation of legal historians during the 1970s and the early 1980s broke the research continuity. In contrast, since the 1970s, the activity of literary scientists, historians, and linguists has prevailed. Knowledge of Všehrd’s life, work, and of his relationships with his contemporaries have been enriched by many important new insights over the past 60 years. From the point of view of history of literature Všehrd’s book “On the Laws of the Land of Bohemia” was highly rated as an accomplished manifestation of humanist literature. An important figure of Všehrd’s friend and intellectual companion Jíra, the radical utraquist priest, was convincingly identified with two other important persons of the same name. The most striking finding of the past sixty years, however, was the existence of the unknown Všehrd’s book, printed in Venice. Heated but unproductive has been the literary controversy over the Všehrd’s importance and about national humanism (i. e. humanist writing in the national [vernacular] languages) in 2014. On the other hand, it has not yet been possible to prepare a critical scientific edition of the complete Všehrd’s literary work.

Text se u příležitosti výročí úmrtí i narození českého právníka Viktorina Kornela z Všehrd věnuje především zkoumání výzkumu o Všehrdovi od poslední velké konference roku 1960. Starší výzkum byl dominován právní historiografií. Vlivem generačních změn v ní – stárnutím a umíráním silné starší generace právních historiků v 70. a 80. letech 20. století však došlo k přerušení této výzkumné kontinuity.

The article advocates a return to an explicitly epochal (binary) approach to literary history, in place of the dominant poststructuralist approach which focuses on the way a plurality of discourses interact in and around literature. In particular, the article attempts to provide specific criteria for delineating the epoch after post-postmodernism, which the author calls “performatism”. The distinguishing features of this new epoch are: 1) double framing (narrative closure); 2) semiotic monism (ostensivity); 3) a separate, dense subject, 4) a set towards transcendence; and 5) the stylization of authorial dominance over the text. The paper defines in detail how these criteria differ from postmodernism and then applies them to the short story Seno by Jan Balabán.
