Development opportunities for adolescents growing up in migratory families in the context of hope of success

The article addresses the problem of hope for success among adolescents growing up in migrant families. This issue is related to the problems of social work, family sociology, and psychology of human development. The knowledge of development opportunities for young people from migrant families may be of particular cognitive value for social workers who face the protective potential of the migrant family in practice. Parents’ departure leads to children becoming independent rapidly, and to family influence on the individual’s life becoming shorter. Many researchers deal with the problem of the negative consequences of migration separation for child development. Few works show the development opportunities and potential of people growing up in families that are spatially separated due to migration. The article describes a fragment of youth’s functioning who had to undertake new duties because of their parents’ departure, such as: taking over the care of their siblings, running their household, and looking after their grandparents with whom they live in the absence of their parents. To determine the level of hope for success among those young people, the Hope for Success Questionnaire by Mariola Łaguna, Jerzy Trzebiński, and Mariusz Zięba was used. The study covered 87 teenagers attending upper-secondary schools in Kujawy-Pomerania Province. The control group consisted of young people whose parents did not migrate abroad for economic reasons, while the criterion group consisted of adolescents growing up in disconnected families. Social workers’ activities include providing help to families. The knowledge of the specific functioning of migration families can help to better support such families. The article aims to discuss the issue of adolescents growing up in migrant families who, because of their parents’ economic migration, must face new responsibilities, often typical of an adult and inadequate for their developmental level.

The purpose of the article is to present the real character of companies listed on the alternative financial market in Poland. The adopted research hypothesis assumes, that mainly young, innovative and fast-growing companies are listed on the NewConnect market.. The empirical analysis showed that most of the business units listed on the NewConnect market, unfortunately, do not develop rapidly. They are also characterized by having a short period between their establishment and entering the financial market and an innovative character. It has also been proven that there are Polish companies listed on the market that come from branches of industry whose level of innovation, due to the character of their operations, isn’t a key element of their functioning. What is more, the conducted research has shown that the changes taking place on the NewConnect market (since the moment of its founding to date) are unfortunately not favorable. At the beginning of the functioning of the alternative financial market in Poland, the companies listed on it had a relatively high level of innovation, unfortunately, the current level of this phenomenon has decreased.

Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie rzeczywistego charakteru spółek notowanych na alternatywnym rynku finansowym w Polsce. Przyjęta hipoteza badawcza zakłada, iż w głównej mierze na rynku NewConnect notowane są przede wszystkim spółki młode, innowacyjne oraz szybko rozwijające się. Przeprowadzona analiza empiryczna wykazała, iż większość z nich niestety nie charakteryzuje się szybkim rozwojem, krótkim okresem między ich założeniem a wejściem na rynek finansowy oraz wysokim poziomem innowacyjności. Wykazano również, iż na alternatywnym rynku finansowym w Polsce notowane są także spółki z takich branż, w których poziom innowacyjności ze względu na charakter prowadzonej działalności, od samego początku nie stanowi kluczowego elementu funkcjonowania. Co więcej, przeprowadzone badania wykazały, iż zmiany zachodzące na rynku NewConnect (od momentu jego założenia do obecnej chwili) niestety nie są korzystne. O ile na początku funkcjonowania alternatywnego rynku finansowego w Polsce, spółki na nim notowane charakteryzowały się stosunkowo wysokim poziomem innowacyjności, to niestety obecny poziom owej innowacyjności uległ obniżeniu.

The article is a presentation of the results of a survey conducted in the Malopolska province on a group of 50 representatives of the SME sector. Completed research shows barriers and opportunities that determine functioning and development of small and medium-sized enterprises in the region, with particular emphasis on the impact of the prevailing coronavirus pandemic. The research tool that was used to collect empirical material that allowed the verification of hypotheses was the questionnaire. The sample was selected using the snowball method. The results of the study were subjected to a detailed analysis, indicating the directions of improvement changes.

Artykuł stanowi prezentację wyników badania ankietowego, przeprowadzonego w województwie małopolskim na grupie 50 przedstawicieli sektora MŚP. Zrealizowane badanie ukazuje bariery i szanse, warunkujące funkcjonowanie oraz rozwój małych i średnich przedsiębiorstw w regionie, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem wpływu panującej pandemii koronawirusa. Narzędziem badawczym, którym posłużono się w celu zebrania materiału empirycznego, pozwalającego na weryfikację przyjętych hipotez, był kwestionariusz ankiety. Dobór próby dokonano metodą kuli śnieżnej. Wyniki badania poddano szczegółowej analizie, wskazując kierunki zmian usprawniających.
