This article focuses on the history of the Polish educational and scientific discourse. The paper examines Polish texts by Józef Czech — Euklidesa początków jeometryi xsiąg ośmioro, to iest sześć pierwszych, jedenasta i dwunasta z dodanemi przypisami i trygonometrią dla pozytku młodzi akademickiey (Euclid’s six books on geometry, that is the first six books, the eleventh book and the twelfth book with notes and geometry for the benefit of university youth, 1807) and by Ignacy Zaborowski — Jeometria praktyczna (Practical geometry, 1786). The science of the 19th century is an area for gaining empirical, theoretical, and practical knowledge of the world. The paper discusses this problem in the context of methods which can be employed to analyze the image of the world. The author of the article presents the concept of discursive worldview, which is meant to enable the description of dynamic profiling of meanings in educational and scientific discourse.

An increasing interest in the popular culture of the Polish People’s Republic has been noticeable in recent years. The author believes that the ludic and propaganda discourse, which combines entertainment and persuasive functions, has a major part in it. This is evidenced by numerous multi modal texts, including crime stories, the so-called militia crime stories. They provide an interesting research material for the contemporary media linguistics. This article presents a media linguistic reconstruction of the discursive image of a foreigner in militia cinema. The tool applied in the analytical procedure is the cognitive definition model. The analysis has proved that the image of foreigners is dominated by negative evaluation, which concerns Germans and Americans in particular. In the author’s opinion, developing this type of research will contribute to broadening the knowledge of persuasion mechanisms and Polish cultural memory.

W ostatnich latach zauważalny jest wzrost zainteresowania kulturą popularną PRL-u. Autor sądzi, że ważną jej część stanowi dyskurs ludyczno-propagandowy, łączący funkcje rozrywkowe i perswazyjne. Jego dokumentami są liczne teksty multimodalne, w tym filmy kryminalne, tzw. kryminały milicyjne. Stanowią one interesujący materiał badawczy dla współczesnej mediolingwistyki. W artykule autor przedstawia mediolingwistyczną rekonstrukcję dyskursywnego obrazu cudzoziemca w kinie milicyjnym. Narzędziem wykorzystanym w procedurze analitycznej jest model definicji kognitywnej. Analiza dowiodła, że obraz cudzoziemców zdominowany jest przez wartościowanie negatywne, dotyczy to zwłaszcza Niemców i Amerykanów. Zdaniem autora rozwijanie tego rodzaju badań przyczyni się do poszerzenia wiedzy o mechanizmach perswazji i polskiej pamięci kulturowej.

The aim of this work is to compare the concepts of EUROPE in Polish and German. This comparative study is based on the analysis of these concepts presented in Leksykon aksjologiczny Słowian i ich sąsiadów [Axiological lexicon of the Slavs and their neighbours] in volume 2, dedicated to Europe (2018). In this context, the main theoretical and methodological assumptions relevant to the comparative study are discussed, including ways to create tertium comparationis.

Celem pracy jest analiza porównawcza konceptu/pojęcia EUROPA w językach polskim i niemieckim. Badanie porównawcze przeprowadzone jest w oparciu o analizy owych konceptów zaprezentowanych w Leksykonie aksjologicznym Słowian i ich sąsiadów w tomie drugim, poświęconym Europie (2018). W tym kontekście omówiono również główne założenia teoretyczne i metodyczne istotne dla badań porównawczych, w tym sposób tworzenia tertium comparationis.
