The paper analyses all early Severan coinage commemorating the ideas of concord (concordia) in the state, in particular the concepts of marital concord (concordia felix), perpetual concord (perpetua concordia) and eternal concord (concordia aeterna ), against the backdrop of the simultaneously propagated idea of aeternitas Imperii as well as the ideology and policy of succession of the ruling house.

Analyzing various medieval Bulgarian hagiographical texts, inscriptions and marginal notes, as well as the Synodicon of the Bulgarian church and other evidence, the author aims to reveal the dynastic concepts of the second Bulgarian Tsardom (1186–1396) and literary attempts to create and support a complex dynastic idea with the means of medieval Bulgarian history writing. Such attempts were connected with two core ideas. Firstly, the state’s foundation was represented as a personal merit of two Asens – father and son. Asen “the Old” adopting the throne name John marked the beginning of the Asens’ Tsardom liberating the Bulgarians from “the Greek slavery” and transferring to his stronghold Tărnovo from Sredets – the center of the Byzantine power over Bulgaria – the relics of St. John of Rila. John Asen “the Great”, his son, strengthened the Tsardom with his victories, returned the status of Patriarchy to the Bulgarian church and brought the relics of St. Parasceve to the capital Tărnovo. Secondly, the literary tradition shaped the image of the Bulgarian Tsardom as an ever-lasting Empire whose enduring attributes – Sceptre and Throne – were given by God to change the mortal monarchs.

The goal of this article is to show the narration contexts in which a medieval author set strongholds by referring to the following terms: oppidum, castrum or urbs, castellum, possibly civitas. I highlight the frequency with which selected medieval writers mentioned one centre or another. In the article I ponder a question if selected chroniclers’ narrations could indicate a regularity which helps to establish the function performed by a stronghold for the benefit of its ruler accounted most frequently.

In the article, a phenomenon of promotion and marketing in the medieval Serbia was discussed, as well as the strategies of creating a specific, desired and functional image of the ruling dynasties. Due to this, the basic communication practices were recalled that is, a management of impression, building the so-called brand (social, political, cultural property of the dynasty, its family pattern), and also specifically conceived branding itself (that is, a management of consciousness and value of the dynastic brand), what ultimately proved that the lineage of social-cultural usage of images, along with the models and devices serving the politics of public relations is deeply rooted in the middle ages. The phenomenon of promotion and marketing in the medieval Serbia was presented on the basis of the medieval Serbian literature, hagiography, hymnography, historiography, and iconographic implementations were also included. The article presents images of rulers and dynasties prevailing in the historical, religious and ideological context, the phenomenon of promotion and marketing in the context of characteristic ideological structures, such as state and church tradition, imperial-monastic tradition, charismatic dynasty, sanctity of the ruling family, land and the Serbian nation e.t.c. The timeless phenomenon of promotion and marketing has been presented as a lasting component of shaping the culture model of the medieval Serbia.

Historia ludzkości wiąże się z istnieniem koncepcji przestrzennych, miejsc będących państwami, miastami lub innymi formami organizacyjnymi. Badania nad Rzymem i Atenami, Bagdadem i Damaszkiem dostarczają obfitych informacji mających bezpośredni wpływ na zrozumienie ewolucji cywilizacji ludzkiej. Fas – miasto maurejskie, które zainicjowało marokańskie państwo, zawsze wzbudzało zainteresowanie historyków i specjalistów. Jest to unikalny model społeczny i miasto, dzięki któremu Uniwersytet Al-Qarawiyyin był w stanie przetrzymać wszelkie surowe zmiany. Niniejszy artykuł ma na celu śledzenie jego ewolucji, z uwzględnienim ekspansji i dominacji historycznej w Afryce Północnej i Europie na przestrzeni wieków.

Human history has always been linked to a spatial concept, a place that can be a state, a city, or any other geographical determination. The researches on Rome and Athens, Baghdad and Damascus provide ample information with a direct impact on understanding the evolution of human civilization. Fas, the Moorish city which initiated the Moroccan State, has always aroused the interest of historians and specialists. It is a unique social model and a city that has been able, thanks to its University Al-Qarawiyyin, to withstand all the harsh changes for centuries. This paper is intended to follow the evolution of this city through the expansion and historical dominance in North Africa and Europe throughout centuries.

The article refers to a problem of relationship between authority and genealogy, and to their specific functioning in the Old Serbian literature, that is in other words, in the hagiographical, historiographical, and hymnic texts. In all those works, the combination of the both ideas undoubtedly serves the ideological creation, regarding the image of sovereign together with the exposition of his extra-ordinary lineage and destiny which are tied to his place and role in the space of history, politics, religion, and culture. In the literature, this peculiar relationship is expressed by the two characteristic constructions of dynasty and genealogy. With regard to this representation, the dynastic construction is based on the model of biblical motif concerning Jesse’s stem and functions as the saint osier of the family of Nemanjić. As for the second construction, of genealogy, it reveals itself as a component of the classical myth of historiography that determines the beginnings namely, the Serbian sovereign’s mythical genesis that also concerns all his charismatic, saint family.

The article presents the dynastic policy of the Jagiellonians towards the Kingdom of Bohemia. I show Jan Długosz's attitude towards the assumption of the Czech throne by the Jagiellons, offered by the Hussite legation. It illustrates the perception of the ruler and his surroundings of the events related to the Hussite revolution in the Czech Kingdom.

Obrazuje postrzeganie władcy oraz jego otoczenia wydarzeń związanych z rewolucją husycką w Królestwie Czeskim.
