Het woordvormingsproces doet aan koken denken. Zoals de ingrediënten van gerechten, maken elementen woordvorming mogelijk. Afhankelijk van wat we samenvoegen met wat, krijgen we een nieuwe semantische of inflectie-eenheid. Deze bijdrage is gewijd aan woordvorming vanuit een vergelijkend perspectief. Op basis van het geselecteerde lexicale materiaal onderzoekt de auteur of woordvormingsprocessen in verschillende talen op een parallelle manier plaatsvinden (in deze bijdrage hebben we te maken met één Germaanse en één Slavische taal, dus vertegenwoordigers van twee verschillende taalgroepen) en of het op basis van de samengestelde analyse mogelijk is om de vorm van een semantisch equivalent in de andere taal te voorspellen. Omdat deze studie een pilootstudie is, maakt zij geen aanspraak op verregaande en volledig ondersteunde toepassingen voor semantische gelijkwaardigheid van individuele leden van samengestelde woorden in verschillende talen. Niettemin kan de mogelijkheid van dergelijke evenredigheid niet definitief uitgesloten worden.

Proces słowotwórczy przypomina gotowanie. Tak jak składniki potraw, formanty słowotwórcze łączą się ze sobą. W zależności od tego, co z czym połączymy, otrzymamy nową jednostkę semantyczną lub fleksyjną. Artykuł poświęcony jest słowotwórstwu w ujęciu konfrontatywnym. W oparciu o wybrany materiał leksykalny bada się, czy procesy słowotwórcze przebiegają równolegle w różnych językach (tutaj mamy do czynienia z językiem germańskim i językiem słowiańskim, a więc przedstawicielami dwóch różnych grup językowych) i czy na podstawie analizy złożenia można przewidzieć formę ekwiwalentu semantycznego w innym języku. Niniejsze studium jest badaniem pilotażowym, a więc nie zawiera jeszcze daleko idących i podbudowanych wniosków dotyczących ekwiwalencji semantycznej poszczególnych członów wyrazu złożonego w różnych językach. Natomiast tezy o możliwości takiej ekwiwalencji zdecydowanie nie można wykluczyć.

The word-formation process is like cooking. Like the ingredients of dishes, word-formation affixes blend together. Depending on what we blend with what, we will obtain a new semantic or inflectional unit. This paper is devoted to word-formation from a comparative perspective. On the basis of the selected lexical material, the author examines whether word-formation processes occur in a parallel way in various languages (in this paper we are dealing with one Germanic and one Slavonic language, thus representatives of two different language groups) and whether — on the basis of the compound analysis — it is possible to predict the form of a semantic equivalent in the other language. As this study is a pilot study, it doesn’t contain far-reaching and completely underpinned applications for the semantic equivalence of individual members of compound words in different languages. Nevertheless, the possibility of such equivalences cannot be excluded definitely.
