The preconditions of the creation of the publishing house “Nasha cultura” (“Our culture”) and its program in the 1920-30s are analysed in this article on the basis of archive material, which has been collected by the author in Ukraine, Poland and Canada. The activity of the publishing house is analysed in the context of projects, fully or partially completed by the house, such as the monthly magazines “Ridna mova” (“Native language”) and “Nasha cultura” (“Our culture”), the book series “Biblioteka ukrainoznavstva” (“Books on Ukrainian studies”) and “Studii do Ukrainskoi gramatyky” (“Ukrainian Grammar studies”), and the series of documentary matter digests “Vyzvolennya Ukrainy” (“Liberation of Ukraine”). Attention is focused on the program and on the peculiarities of the editorial policy. The article deals with correspondents and the topics of the published matter. The main motto of the magazine “One literary language and one spelling for one people” is placed in context.
