Współczesna Rosja (Federacja Rosyjska) jest głównym sukcesorem Związku Radzieckiego, który w 1991 r. uległ dezintegracji i który do momentu swojego rozpadu był jednym z dwóch supermocarstw. Rozpad ZSRR wiązał się z poszukiwaniem przez Rosję swojego miejsca w świecie i w systemie międzynarodowym, definiowaniem własnych interesów, a także z dążeniem do utrzymania statusu mocarstwa i gracza światowego. Rezultatem tworzenia się nowej rosyjskiej tożsamości zbiorowej jest ogromna popularność w Rosji geopolityki, która w tym kraju zaczyna spełniać funkcję metaidei (uniwersalnej idei wyjaśniającej świat), w pewnym sensie wypełniając pustkę ideologiczną po zbankrutowanej ideologii komunistycznej. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest przedstawienie genezy rosyjskiej myśli geopolitycznej, kształtującej się w zasadzie od chwili powstania Imperium Rosyjskiego w pierwszej połowie XVIII stulecia – poprzez wiek XIX – aż po okres radziecki. W artykule zostały zaprezentowane główne idee, koncepcje oraz ich twórcy – w kontekście międzynarodowego układu odniesienia. Konstrukcja artykułu ma charakter chronologiczno-problemowy.

Contemporary Russia (Russian Federation) is the main successor of the Soviet Union, which in 1991 has disintegrated and that until its disintegration was one of the two superpowers. The disintegration of the USSR was associated with the searching by Russia its place in the world and in the international system, defining Russian interests, and with striving to save of status as a global power and player. The result of the creation of a new Russian collective identity is a huge popularity in Russia geopolitics, which in this country begins to act as a metaidea (the universal idea explaining the world) and, in a certain sense, fills the ideological void after the bankruptcy of communist ideology. The purpose of this article is the presentation of the genesis of Russian geopolitical thinking, which had been formed, in principle, since the establishment of the Russian Empire in the first half of the eighteenth century – through the nineteenth century – until the Soviet period. The article presents the main ideas, concepts and their creators – in the context of the international system. The construction of this article has a chronologicalproblem character.

Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia are the only countries that were part of the USSR, which today belong to both the European Union and the North Atlantic Alliance, therefore they occupy a special place on the map of interests of their eastern neigbours. The intention of this article is to demonstrate that the information warfare activity against the Baltic States is an element and expression of Russia’s broad strategy, which extend far beyond this region. Based on the analysis of several hundred 2016–2020 media covereges, the conclusions were drawn about the latest trends and techniques for conducting disinformation campaigns, as well as the main narratives at the community, political, social, historical and economical level.

Litwa, Łotwa i Estonia są jedynymi państwami wchodzącymi w skład byłego ZSRR, które współcześnie przynależą zarówno do Unii Europejskiej, jak i do Sojuszu Północnoatlantyckiego, przez co zajmują specjalne miejsce na mapie interesów swoich wschodnich sąsiadów. Praca ma na celu wykazać, że wojna informacyjnawymierzona w państwa bałtyckie jest elementem i przejawem szerszej strategii Federacji Rosyjskiej, wykraczającej daleko poza wspomniany region. Na podstawie analizy kilkuset przekazów medialnych z lat 2016–2020, wyciągnięto wnioski na temat ostatnich trendów i metod prowadzenia kampanii dezinformacyjnych, jak i przedstawiono główne narracje na płaszczyźnie wspólnotowej, politycznej, społecznej, historycznej i gospodarczej.
