In the paper management of Main Library of the Warsaw University of Technology collection during last decade has been discussed. It was discussed matter of collection (in classic and digital version), their development, dependence and autonomy. It was discussed dilemmas about creating library collections. The issue was raised about books collection for academic society, especially for foreign student. The matter was raised about cooperation between the Library and Academy in order to improve quality of education.

W artykule omówiono zarządzanie księgozbiorem Biblioteki Głównej Politechniki Warszawskiej w kontekście zmian, które zaszły w nim na przestrzeni ostatnich 10 lat. Omówiono księgozbiór tradycyjny (w wersji papierowej) oraz zasoby elektroniczne, ich rozwój oraz wzajemne przenikanie się, zależności i autonomię. Przedstawiono problemy dotyczące kształtowania zasobów Biblioteki. Poruszono kwestie księgozbioru dydaktycznego, w tym dla studentów zagranicznych. Podjęto temat współpracy Biblioteki z Uczelnią w pracach nad polepszeniem jakości kształcenia.

The aim of this article is to discuss the selected issues connected with the policy of gathering and selecting collections in the Library of the Lodz University. The analysis includes particularly the rules of gathering and selec-ting a legal deposit copy, collections research and management of the journal collections at the example of their gathering. The basic issue undertaken in this consideration refers to the policy of gathering collections and factors which de-termine it. These reflections have been embedded in three subheadings which explain the rules of work in the Library of the Lodz University.

Celem artykułu jest omówienie wybranych zagadnień związanych z polityką gromadzenia i selekcji zbiorów w Bibliotece Uniwersytetu Łódzkiego. W szczególności analizie poddane zostały zasady gromadzenia i selekcji egzemplarza obowiązkowego, segmentacja zbiorów biblioteki oraz zarządzanie zbiorem czasopism na przykładzie ich gromadzenia. Podstawowa kwestia jaka przyświeca podjętym w tym artykule rozważaniom, odnosi się do polityki gromadzenia zbiorów i czynników, które je determinują. Całość rozważań osadzona została w trzech śródtytułach, które przybliżają specyfikę pracy Biblioteki Uniwersytetu Łódzkiego.

The article discusses the principles of collecting collections for public libraries for children and youth and school libraries. The qualitative analysis was based on the list of titles of books that were planned to buy 44 school libraries in 2014 as part of the government subsidy. The collected material is divided into the following categories: school reading, literature classics for children, poetry, fairy tales, books for children, Grzegorz Kasdepke's books, literature for children, literature, fantasy, educational books, history and biographies, and others. Most often libraries planned to buy school books, educational books (dictionaries, encyclopedias). From the literature, it was usually planned to buy fantasy books, novels for girls and works by authors such as Paweł Beręsewicz, Marcin Pałasz, Barbara Gawryluk, Renata Piątkowska, Małgorzata Strzałkowska. It was also planned to buy books that were screened and advertised in youth magazines. The analysis shows that the collections of school libraries and public libraries for children and youth respond to the reading needs of this group of recipients.

W artykule omówiono zasady gromadzenia zbiorów do bibliotek publicznych dla dzieci i młodzieży oraz bibliotek szkolnych. Do analizy jakościowej wykorzystano listy tytułów książek, jakie planowały kupić 44 biblioteki szkolne w 2014 r. w ramach dotacji rządowej. Zgromadzony materiał podzielono na następujące kategorie: lektury szkolne, klasyka literatury dla dzieci, poezja, baśnie, książki dla najmłodszych, książki Grzegorza Kasdepke, literatura dla najmłodszych, literatura obyczajowa, fantasy, książki edukacyjne, historia i biografie, i inne. Najczęściej biblioteki planowały kupić lektury szkolne, książki edukacyjne (słowniki, encyklopedie). Z literatury pięknej najczęściej planowano kupić książki z gatunku fantasy, powieści dla dziewcząt oraz utwory takich autorów jak m. in. Paweł Beręsewicz, Barbara Gawryluk, Marcin Pałasz, Renata Piątkowska, Małgorzata Strzałkowska. Chętnie kupowano książki ekranizowane i reklamowane w czasopismach młodzieżowych. Z przeprowadzonej analizy wynika, że księgozbiory bibliotek szkolnych i bibliotek publicznych dla dzieci i młodzieży odpowiadają na potrzeby czytelnicze tej grupy odbiorców.

Collecting library resources is the basic task of every library, which translates into the quality of resources and user satisfaction. The article discusses the course of computerization of collection processes in the Main Library of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin. It was presented how the It tools used have changed since the 1990s and their impact on the organization of the work in the Department of Acquisition and Collection Development. In order to document the activities related to the discussed process, the following methods were used: document analysis and case study. The described experiences of the unit's employees may prove useful to other libraries.

Gromadzenie zbiorów to podstawowe zadanie każdej biblioteki przekładające się na jakość zasobów i zadowolenie użytkowników. w artykule omówiono przebieg komputeryzacji procesów gromadzenia w Bibliotece Głównej Uniwersytetu Marii Curie-Skłodowskiej w Lublinie. przedstawiono, jak zmieniały się stosowane narzędzia informatyczne, począwszy od lat 90. XX wieku oraz ich wpływ na organizację pracy Oddziału Gromadzenia i Uzupełniania zbiorów. W celu udokumentowania działań związanych z omawianym procesem wykorzystano metody: analizy dokumentów oraz case study. Opisane doświadczenia pracowników jednostki mogą okazać się przydatne dla innych bibliotek.

The article investigates and discusses the changes in the management of resources at Poznań University Library that were implemented over the last two decades (between 1992–2014). Based on the analysis of the internal regulations and adjustments concerning the acquisition policy and surrounding issues, the authors present the evolutionary process of its development over the last twenty years that has led to its present shape. Against this particular background, the accompanying changes in the work organization, structure and the management of the Library are also discussed.

W artykule przedstawiono zmiany zachodzące w zarządzaniu zasobami Biblioteki Uniwersyteckiej w Poznaniu w latach 1992–2014. Na podstawie analizy wewnętrznych regulacji dotyczących polityki gromadzenia i związanych z nią zagadnień zaprezentowano jej ewolucję w ostatnim dwudziestoleciu. Omówiono także towarzyszące jej zmiany w organizacji pracy i strukturze oraz zarządzaniu Biblioteką.

This article shows the importance of legal deposit to the national culture. The legal deposit collections provide the contemporary readers with a research and education workshop, and they also document the intellectual, cultural and social life of the country. Legal deposit is particularly substantial to the preservation of publications that are out of sale. It is also the basis of the national bibliography and editorial statistics. The state of legal deposit is influenced by the law in force, by the attitudes of publishers and libraries, and also by the behaviour and opinions of other environments. The failure of some publishers to fulfil their legal obligation results in the distortion of statistics as well as in the absence of their publications in library reference databases. Of course, it also influences the number of books in the authorised libraries. The desired change in the current law, though obviously essential, is hampered by the conflict of interests between libraries and publishers. It should also be underlined that legal deposit has played a significant role in the formation of the book collection of the Jagiellonian Library already for over two centuries. Thanks to this, the Jagiellonian Library enjoys the unofficial status of a national library and its special and worthy image is being established in the social consciousness.

W artykule przedstawiono historię Towarzystwa Historyczno-Literackiego / Biblioteki Polskiej w Paryżu znajdujących się na Wyspie Świętego Ludwika od momentu powołania przez Wielką Emigrację do czasów współczesnych. Opisowi poddano strukturę wewnętrzną Towarzystwa Historyczno-Literackiego i Biblioteki Polskiej oraz udostępniane zbiory: archiwa i rękopisy w Pracowni Zbiorów Specjalnych (jedynie naukowcom i badaczom), książki i czasopisma w Czytelni, zbiory artystyczne w Pracowni Kolekcji Artystycznych. Krótko omówiono mało znane wśród Polaków trzy muzea: Muzeum Adama Mickiewicza, Salon Fryderyka Chopina, Muzeum Bolesława Biegasa, stanowiące ekspozycje stałe integralnie wkomponowane w gmach Biblioteki Polskiej w Paryżu. Uwagę skupiono na własnych zawodowych doświadczeniach bibliotekarskich w Bibliotece Polskiej pod kątem dubletów i wymiany międzybibliotecznej w roku 2008/2009 i życiu codziennym, jakie w niej się toczyło. Równolegle do opisu THL/BPP sygnalizowano ówczesne losy pobliskiej rezydencji historycznej Hôtel Lambert, niegdyś należącej do rodu książąt Czartoryskich i stanowiącej polskie centrum kulturalno-polityczne. Zwrócono uwagę na przebieg debaty publicznej oraz sprzeciw francuskich środowisk konserwatorskich i Polonii francuskiej, która miała miejsce od grudnia 2008 do marca 2009 r. wobec planu przebudowy i modernizacji oryginalnej zabudowy Hotelu Lambert przez nowego właściciela.

The article presents the history of Towarzystwo Historyczno-Literackie / Polish Library in Paris located on St. Ludwik from the moment of establishing by the Great Emigration to modern times. The internal structure of the Historical-Literary Society and the Polish Library in Paris is described, as well as collections: books and magazines in the Reading Room, archives and manuscripts in the Special Collections Laboratory (only scientists and researchers), artistic collections in the Artistic Collections Laboratory. A brief description of the three unknown museums in Poland: the Adam Mickiewicz Museum, the Fryderyk Chopin Salon, the Bolesław Biegas Museum, constituting permanent exhibitions integrally incorporated into the building of the Polish Library in Paris. Attention was focused on their own professional library experience in the Polish Library in terms of interlibrary exchange in 2008/2009 and everyday life in it. Parallel to the description of THL / BPP, the then fate of the nearby historic residence, Hôtel Lambert, was once mentioned to the Czartoryski family and was a Polish cultural and political center. The article draws attention to the public debate and opposition of the French conservationist and French Polonia, which took place from December 2008 to March 2009, in view of the plan to reconstruct and modernize the original development of Hôtel Lambert by the new owner.
