Dwie książki, Erica Topola, “The Creative Destruction of Medicine: How the Digital Revolution Will Create Better Health Care “ oraz Jody Ranck, “Connected Health: How Mobile Phones, Cloud and Big Data Will Reinvent Healthcare”, syntetycznie przedstawiają dokonujący się proces głębokiej transformacji współczesnej medycyny, w którym istotną rolę odgrywają nowe media i technologie informacyjne. Tytuł artykułu „Od doktora House do doktora Google” wskazuje na przejście od jedynie oglądania fabularnych obrazów lekarza na ekranie telewizora do metaforycznego lekarza internetowego, nazwanego doktorem Google. Korzysta z tej wyszukiwarki niemal dwie trzecie internautów, często za pomocą smartfonu. To urządzenie zapewnia nie tylko dostęp do lekarskiej diagnostyki, ale także samo staje się poprzez dołączane sensory medycznym diagnostą w telemedycynie.

Two books by Eric Topol, “The Creative Destruction of Medicine: How the Digital Revolution Will Create Better Health Care” and Jody Ranck, “Connected Health: How Mobile Phones, Cloud and Big Data Will Reinvent Healthcare”, synthetically present an ongoing process of profound transformation of modern health care, in which an important role play new media and information technologies. Title of the article “From Dr. House to Dr. Google” indicates the transition from merely watching a fictional doctor on TV screen to metaphorical images online doctor, called Dr. Google. Almost two thirds of internauts use the search engines frequently, often using smartphone. This device not only provides access to the medical diagnosis and tool to be in touch with medical personnel, but through sensors attached it becomes itself a medical diagnostician in telemedicine.

Background Drug-resistant bacteria are one of the main reasons of deaths worldwide. A significant group of these bacteria are carbapenemase producing Enterobacteriaceae (CPE). The goal of this study was to develop a diagnostic and therapeutic model targeted at asymptomatic carriers of CPE. Material and Methods A team of experts from different branches connected to health care, discussing the topic based on the data collected from previous research. Working sessions were dispersed between June and December 2022. The consensus has been reached via repeated discussion and literature search. Results The facility where CPE are detected is required to create an alert pathogen note and to notify sanitary-epidemiological station and National Reference Centre for Antimicrobial Susceptibility of Microorganisms – neither these institutions, nor the patient are required to notify the primary care physician. In primary care clinics, it is possible to work towards breaking the transmission of CPE by educating patients with CPE and persons who were in contact with them, and to undertake actions in order to look for patients with risk factors for CPE colonisation. In order to improve communication between individual levels of the health care system, standardised information could be introduced to the discharge note about a case of CPE, which will be electronically transmitted to the primary care facility. It might contribute to effective combating of the spread of CPE, by serving as a source of knowledge and education for patients and by checking the patient’s risk factors, which will improve the performance of tests for CPE colonisation. Conclusions The established model of good practice requires a change of legal regulations and its implementation, which will reduce the spread of CPE in health care facilities and will enable its future improvement.

Retoryczne ukształtowanie komunikatów dotyczących zdrowia na portalu „Twój Styl”

The article offers an analysis of texts posted on the Twój Styl website tagged as pertaining to “medicine” from the perspective of rhetorical strategies deployed therein. The research material has been divided into categories on the basis of the character of the statement (conscious choice of convention) and subsequently analyzed with the view to capturing the linguistic and extra-linguistic tools employed to affect the recipients (from capturing the readers’ attention to propagating specific attitudes). The study conceived in such a way enables an overview of communication strategies used by the authors to attract the recipients. The main conclusion of the study is that health-related content is intentionally shaped in such a way that would persuade the addressees to embrace particular behaviours.

Celem artykułu jest analiza tekstów zamieszczonych na portalu Twój Styl, oznaczonych tagiem „medycyna”, z perspektywy wykorzystanych w nich chwytów retorycznych. Zebrany materiał został podzielony ze względu na gatunek wypowiedzi (celowy wybór konwencji), następnie poddany analizie z uwagi na zastosowanie językowych i pozajęzykowych środków, które mają na celu oddziaływanie na odbiorców (od przyciągnięcia ich uwagi po nakłonienie do proponowanych postaw). Dzięki tak przeprowadzonemu badaniu możliwe było nakreślenie strategii komunikacyjnych, służących pozyskiwaniu odbiorców przez autorów tekstów. Główną konkluzją wynikającą z przeprowadzonego badania jest fakt intencyjnego, ukierunkowanego chęcią realizacji funkcji nakłaniającej ukształtowania treści dotyczących zdrowia.
