Research background: technology development and its application for human activities - R&D - have been recognized as the basis of economic performance, a source of technological solutions and of high value-added supply both in scientific literature as well as in the strategic documents of the Government and international organizations. In order to ensure the harmonious activity of the institutions engaged in R&D and to reduce the uncertainty of the commercialization of technologies, an advanced tool for verifying decisions on technology development at early stages of commercialization, i.e. an instrument for assessing the commercial potential of technology, is needed. Over the last decade, the analysis of the tools on a global scale led to the unequivocal conclusion - so far developed methodical basis has suffered from lack of maturity for its practical use in business, a need for assessing commercial potential at an early stage of technology commercialization has been ignored, and the assessment of commercial potential has not considered the specificity of high technology. Purpose of the article: This article discusses in detail the preparation and application pro-cesses of the model for assessment the commercial potential of high technologies. Methods: in the model the multiple criteria method is applied the selection of which was determined by the motive related to the goal of assessment - assess the commercial potential of high technologies. Findings & Value added: The essence of scientific novelty embraces the creation of a qualitatively new, original, science-based model for assessing the commercial potential of technologies thus flexibly applying it to assessing different levels of technologies. The original model is based on: the focus on the specificity of high technologies in assessment the commercial potential of technologies; the focus on the early stage of technology commercialization by assessing the commercial potential of technologies; flexibility in the application of the model taking into account the technological level, legal status, opportunity to assess the commercial potential of technologies in different countries and institutions; mathematical calculations based on assessing commercial potential.

Contemporary discussion on health, and intellectual and social condition of the human in the 21st century, often concerns the issues of using, or even abusing, modern technologies. The authors of the article refer to the concept of illiteracy, and describe its current contexts. The authors’ own research results picture the present-day linguistic competence of primary school students. Lichtańska and Cygan attempt to present characteristics of the current stage of linguistic evolution, which – in the light of experts’ opinions – is reflecting cultural changes.

Problematyka związana z rolą mediów w życiu dziecka jest istotna ze względu na szybki rozwój współczesnych technologii. Obecnie nowości technologiczne towarzyszą człowiekowi w każdej dziedzinie życia, dlatego nabierają one większego znaczenia niż dotychczas. Wczesny kontakt dziecka z różnego typu mediami oraz skutki ich oddziaływań obserwuje się nie tylko u dzieci w szkole, ale również wśród dzieci w wieku przedszkolnym lub nawet młodszych. W związku z tym, że coraz częściej dzieci mają swobodny dostęp do multimediów szczególnie dzisiaj akcentuje się wprowadzanie dzieci w świat wartości. Dlatego głównym celem przedstawionych treści było ustalenie czy media jako nośnik wartości mają wpływ na wychowanie dziecka według opinii dorosłych, w tym nauczycieli i rodziców. Istotne było również określenie czy media pomagają dzieciom zrozumieć i przyjąć dane wartości czy stanowią zagrożenie dla ich rozwoju, co zostanie zaprezentowane w niniejszym opracowaniu.

The issue related to the role of media in the life of a child is important due to the rapid development of modern technologies. Currently, technological innovations accompany people in every area of life, which is why they take on more importance than before. Early child’s contact with various types of media and the effects of their interaction are observed not only among children at school, but also among pre-school children or even younger ones. Due to the more frequent, free access to the media, special emphasis is placed today on bringing children into the world of values. Therefore, the main purpose of the contents was to determine whether the media as a carrier of values affect children’s upbringing in adult opinions, including teachers and parents. It was also important to determine whether the media help children understand and accept new values or pose a threat to their development, which will be presented in this study.

Public service media have been slow to adapt to the digital age typified by the growing role of high technologies and communications services driven by databases and fed by data. Public service media corporations established in the pre-Internet era have found it difficult to approach adaptation and change both from the dynamics of the media markets and organisational perspectives. This study argues that current challenges faced by public service media are an ongoing interplay between the futures and legacy of 20th century success. Through 150 semi-structured interviews conducted in 10 cities – 6 in Europe, 3 in the USA and 1 in Canada – the study aims to investigate key path-dependencies and potential models to move public service media forwards. The struggle between the old and the new is examined through the lenses of media change, regulation and organisational cultures.

Współczesne czasy cechuje ogromny postęp technologiczny, szczególnie w zakresie urządzeń komunikacyjnych, tzw. komunikatorów. Szybki rozwój technologii cyfrowej dokonał wielu przeobrażeń w życiu prywatnym i zawodowym całego społeczeństwa. Wpłynął także na zmiany w obszarze życia rodzinnego, dokonując rewolucyjnych zmian w sposobie budowania relacji rodzinnych i sposobach sprawowania opieki rodzicielskiej. Multimedia stały się ważnym narzędziem wychowania i edukacji najmłodszego pokolenia. Dzieci te dla podkreślenia roli technologii w ich życiu nazywa się cyberdziećmi. Pokolenie to zdecydowanie różni się pod względem rozwo-ju od swoich rówieśników sprzed kilkunastu lat. Coraz częściej w publikacjach naukowych opisy-wane są zmiany, jakie zachodzą w funkcjonowaniu mózgu pod wpływem nadmiernego korzysta-nia z wysokich technologii. Zmiany te przekładają się na możliwości percepcyjne, zdolności do rozumowania, odczuwania i przewidywania. Powoduje to konieczność dokonania zmian w proce-durach edukacyjnych tak, aby dostosować je do potrzeb i możliwości nowego pokolenia cyfrowych tubylców. W artykule dokonano próby charakterystyki pokolenia cyberdzieci. Wskazano główne pro-blemy współczesnej edukacji wynikające ze zmian rozwojowych współczesnych dzieci oraz wskazano drogi i możliwości przeobrażeń edukacyjnych. Podkreślono konieczność przeobrażeń współczesnej szkoły, aby stała się nowoczesnym i przyjaznym miejscem nabywania przez młode pokolenia kompetencji kluczowych, niezbędnych do życia we współczesnym świecie.

The modern times are characterized by significant technological progress, in particular within the scope of communication devices, so-called communicators. The rapid development of digital technology has caused many transformations in private and professional life of the whole society. It has also influenced changes in the field of work and family life, through revolutionary changes in the way of building family relations and possible parenthood options. Multimedia are now an important tool of upbringing and education of young generation. Therefore, the children are called “cyber children” to underline the role of technology in their life. This generation differs significantly from their peers from several years ago. Scientific publications more and more often describe changes that take place in functioning of the brain under the influence of excessive use of high technologies. These changes translate into perceptive capabilities and the ability to compre-hend, feel and predict. It makes it necessary to implement changes in educational procedures in order to adapt them to needs and possibilities of the new generation of “digital natives”. This article attempts to characterize the generation of cyber children. It indicates main prob-lems of contemporary education, which result from developmental changes of children. It also presents ways and possibilities of educational transformations. It underlines that today's school system requires transformations, so that the school can become a modern and friendly place for young generation to acquire key competencies, which are necessary to live in today’s world.
