W 1824 roku obiecujący student Cesarskiego Uniwersytetu Wileńskiego obronił rozprawę doktorską poświęconą ospie zmodyfikowanej. Dysertacja podejmowała aktualny i istotny temat, była oparta na obserwacjach i najnowszej wiedzy naukowej, a jej wyniki mogły mieć rzeczywiste znaczenie dla praktyki lekarskiej zwolenników wakcynacji. In 1824 a highly promising student of Imperial University of Vilnius defended his doctoral thesis on modified smallpox. The dissertation took up a topical and vital item, was based on a current medical knowledge base and observation, the results could have a great significance for supporters of vaccination. The paper examines the historical context/background of the thesis.
