The purpose of this study was to examine how Slovak athletes experience dual career (the combination of an athletic career with education and/or work). The study strived to gain an understanding of the athletes’ attitudes towards education as well as perceived difficulties and supporting elements in pursuing dual career. Five athletes were interviewed once for approx. 105 min. The interviews and data analysis were based on Intepretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) and the interviews were focused on their experience in combining an athletic career with education or work. The athletes experienced dual career as manageable as long as they were assisted by at least simple supportive structures and provided flexible arrangements. Peers had played an important role in athletes’ decision-making concerning dual career and in providing social support when facing challenges within dual career. The teachers’ prejudice against the athletes based on their athletic role and the lack of dual career structures appeared to be significant deficiencies in dual career support. Finally, the analysis revealed the negative perception of athletes and sport science students by educational representatives. This perception may be a hurdle to be overcome in future dual career development.

The phenomenon of tandem nursing has not been much captured by psychological research. Tandem nursing is practiced by some mothers who follow the trend of attachment parenting. In tandem nursing, the mother breastfeeds both the younger and the older child at the same time. In-depth interviews were conducted with four women who claimed to practice attachment parenting and breastfed their toddler child together with their older sibling at preschool age. Interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) was used to analyze the data, and four main themes were identified: 1) Efforts to maintain breastfeeding at all costs - from the decline of breastfeeding in pregnancy to the sharp increase after childbirth to the ideal of selfreinstatement; 2) Mother in the middle - "I feel like I'm still...always in the middle...physically and mentally...between the children"; 3) Tandem nursing as a safeguard for the older child in the new family structure and the mother's efforts to support sibling relationships; 4) Support and criticism of tandem nursing leading to reinforcement of beliefs.

Introduction: Exploring people’s plans, hopes and perceptions of future can help us understand their inner world, intentions, drives, and meaning ascribed to their lives. Little do we know, however, about this sphere in fathers with intellectual disabilities (ID). Research Aim: The aim of the study was to explore how fathers with ID visualize their children’s future, what their plans and hopes are and how these plans and hopes are ascribed with meaning by them. Method: Interpretative phenomenological analysis was used to examine the vision of the future as expressed by fathers with ID. The research was conducted using in-depth interviews with twenty fathers with mild to moderate ID (aged 21-54). Results: Three superordinate themes and 10 constituent themes were extracted from the data. The superordinate themes included: (1) vision of the child's future – hopes and fears, (2) objects of plans and hopes, and (3) towards fulfilling plans and hopes. Conclusion: The findings can be used by professionals working in institutions supporting people with ID and for social services to help them raise awareness about plans and intentions of fathers with ID – a group commonly regarded as reluctant to cooperate.
