The author presents trends in modern legal discussion on prescription. He suggests that the trends are defined by three basic issues. The first question is on relevance of prescription in the 21st century. The second issue concerns the future of the legal institution and the scope of its application in the new reality, i.e. determined by technological changes. The third makes us discuss whether we deal with a single legal construct or with many institutions covered for historical reasons by the same name. The article discusses the judgment of the European Court of Human Rights in case JA Pye (Oxford) Ltd v. The United Kingdom, opin- ions of lawyers in common law countries, specialists in continental law, mixed jurisdiction, and legal systems of Asian states. The author suggests significant importance of technological changes, including technologies based on blockchain and the Internet of Things. He discusses in detail the shape of legal regulations regarding prescription in Louisiana (USA) and the province of Quebec (Canada). Finally, he refers to the Roman legal tradition as the best tertium comparationis for discussions on prescription in any major legal orders of the world.

Urząd kościelny jest to ustanowione na stałe zadanie z postanowienia czy to Bożego, czy kościelnego dla realizacji celu duchowego. Zgodnie z kan. 184 § 1 Kodeksu Prawa Kanonicznego z 1983 r., urząd kościelny traci się po upływie wyznaczonego czasu, po osiągnięciu określonego prawem wieku, na skutek rezygnacji, przeniesienia, usunięcia oraz pozbawienia. Każdy, kto jest poczytalny, może dla słusznej przyczyny zrzec się urzędu kościelnego. Biskup diecezjalny, który ukończył siedemdziesiąty piąty rok życia, jest proszony o złożenie na ręce papieża rezygnacji z zajmowanego urzędu. Usilnie prosi się biskupa diecezjalnego, który z powodu choroby lub innej poważnej przyczyny nie może w sposób właściwy wypełniać swojego urzędu, by przedłożył rezygnację z urzędu (kan. 401).

An ecclesiastical office is any function constituted in a stable manner by divine or ecclesiastical law to be exercised for a spiritual purpose. According to can. 184 § 1 of the 1983 Code of Canon Law, the ecclesiastical office is lost by the lapse of a predetermined time, by reaching the age determined by the law, by resignation, by transfer, by removal and by privation. Any person of sound mind can resign an ecclesiastical office for a just cause. A diocesan bishop who has completed his seventy-fifth year of age is requested to present his resignation from office to the Supreme Pontiff. A diocesan bishop is earnestly requested to present his resignation from office when he has become less able to fulfill his office due to ill health or another serious reason (can. 401).

W artykule niniejszym po omówieniu teoretycznego uzasadnienia dla prowadzenia wojny, przedstawiona została koncepcja wojny sprawiedliwej u św. Tomasza z Akwinu. Składają się na nią trzy warunki wojny sprawiedliwej: musi zostać wypowiedziana przez prawowitą władzę publiczną, przyczyna wojny musi być sprawiedliwa, a prowadzeniu wojny musi towarzyszyć uczciwa intencja. Następnie przedstawione zostały kwestie ściśle z koncepcją wojny sprawiedliwej związane. Chodzi mianowicie o osoby uczestniczące w wojnie (nie mogą to być księża), o stosowanie zasadzek i podstępów oraz o prowadzenie działań wojennych w dni świąteczne. W podsumowaniu podjęto w kilku zdaniach próbę ukazania aktualności tej koncepcji.

The article contains theoretical reasons for waging just war. Also the concept of the just war by Thomas Aquinas is presented. Three conditions must be fulfilled for a war to be just: the war must be started by legal public authority, the war must be for good, or against evil. Than different issues connected with just war will be presented, like: who is not allowed to take part in war (priests). In the summary the author of the article shows topicality of the concept of a Just War
