Foreigners' opinions on the functioning of polish health care - a survey study.

Background. As a result of globalisation and Poland’s joining the European Union, more and more foreigners are coming to Poland to work, as tourists and for other purposes, sometimes settling in Poland. They also use the Polish health care system during their stays in Poland. Poles usually complain about their health care system, but there is a lack of foreigners’ opinions. Our detailed on-line survey in English for foreigners living in Poland will help to better describe their satisfaction with the Polish health care system, as well as their opinions and comments, which will help to improve the system in the future.

W wyniku globalizacji i przystąpienia Polski do Unii Europejskiej coraz więcej obcokrajowców przyjeżdża do pracy do Polski, w celach turystycznych lub innych, czasami osiedlając się tutaj na stałe. Oni korzystają również z usług polskiego systemu ochrony zdrowia podczas swojego pobytu w Polsce. Polacy często narzekają na system ochrony zdrowia, ale brakuje opinii obcokrajowców. Nasza szczegółowa ankieta w języku angielskim skierowana do obcokrajowców żyjących w Polsce pozwoli ocenić ich satysfakcję z polskiego system ochrony zdrowia, jak również poznać ich opinie i komentarze oraz pozwoli ulepszyć system w przyszłości.

Internetowa społeczność fanów fantastyki stanowi bogate źródło materiału do badań nad reakcjami czytelników na tłumaczenia, gdyż jej członkowie często wyrażają opinie nie tylko o książkach, które czytają, ale też o jakości ich tłumaczeń. Polskie przekłady The Wee Free Men Terry’ego Pratchetta są dobrym przykładem tłumaczeń, które zainspirowały wiele komentarzy. Krytyka w nich zawarta skupia się na powodach, dla których tłumaczenia nie powierzono od razu tłumaczowi pozostałych książek w serii Świat Dysku, sposobie tłumaczenia imion i dialektu, oraz zagadnieniach związanych z określeniem docelowego czytelnika i dopasowaniem tekstu do jego potrzeb. Na podstawie analizy można wnioskować, że poszczególne wybory tłumacza są uważane przez czytelników za problematyczne zwłaszcza tam, gdzie nie dostrzegają oni ich uzasadnienia.

The online community of science fiction and fantasy fans constitutes a rich source of material for analysing reader response to translations as its members often reflect not only on the books they read but also on the quality of their translations. The Polish translations of Terry Pratchett’s The Wee Free Men are a good example of translations which evoked ample response online, with criticism focusing on the reasons for initially not employing the usual translator of the Discworld series, the treatment of names and dialect in the translation, and the issues connected with defining the target reader of the text and adjusting the text to their needs. The analysis of online reactions shows that translation solutions are considered problematic by readers especially when the reasons behind them are not clear.

W marcu 2020 roku większość zawodów sportowych na świecie została zawieszona z powodu pandemii COVID-19. W tej sytuacji zapotrzebowanie kibiców na informacje o najlepszych sportowcach nie mogło być w pełni zaspokojone w sposób tradycyjny, czego wynikiem był wzrost popularności mediów społecznościowych. Celem artykułu jest identyfikacja czynników wpływających na zaangażowanie fanów sportu w mediach społecznościowych, bazując na przykładzie Instagrama. Jako wskaźniki uwzględniono liczbę polubień i komentarzy, a także liczbę polubieni i komentarzy podzieloną przez liczbę followersów (właściwe wskaźniki zaangażowania). Wyniki przeprowadzonego badania pokazują jakie typy postów generowały największe zaangażowanie.

In March 2020, most sports competitions in the world were suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Fan demand for information about top athletes could not be fully satisfied traditionally, that is why social media have grown in popularity. This article aims to identify the factors that affect the engagement of sports fans on social media and is based on the example of Instagram. The number of likes, comments as well as the number of likes and comments divided by the number of followers (appropriate engagement rates), were taken into account as engagement indicators. The results clearly show what types of posts generated the most engagement.
