Making contact with other people belong to the earliest and most important tasks of life the child. A special role is played by parents, teachers and peer group. Importance of the latter in the acquisition of social skills in an article devoted special attention. The chapter selected studies on the role of peer socialization process by referring, among others, to the theory of cognitive, ethological and social learning. It emphasizes the position of the child in the peer group and its influence on the formation and strengthening social bonds.

Nawiązywanie kontaktów z innymi ludźmi należy do najwcześniej-szych i najważniejszych zadań życiowych dziecka. Szczególną rolę pełnią rodzice, nauczyciele i grupa rówieśnicza. Znaczeniu tej ostatniej w nabywaniu kompetencji społecznych poświęcono w artykule szczególną uwagę. Przybliżono wybrane badania na temat roli rówieśnika w procesie socjalizacji odwołując się m.in. do teorii poznawczej, etologicznej i uczenia się społecznego. Zaakcentowano pozycję dziecka w grupie rówieśniczej oraz jej wpływ na kształtowanie się i zacieśnianie więzi społecznych.
