The article considers modern approaches to the teaching of a foreign language, orientation of its content on the values of personal development and humanism. The main goal of the teaching of a foreign language in secondary school is the development of communicative competence the ground for which is the communicative skills based on language knowledge and skills. The development of communicative competence depends on socio-cultural and sociolinguistic knowledge, abilities and skills. The significance of the teaching of a foreign language is shown, the thoughts of modern scientists (Red’ko V., Burenko V.) as to the strategies and the content of its teaching, priority characteristics of communicative-active, personality-oriented and cultural paradigm of the modern school foreign language education are focused. In accordance with the communicative-active approach and taking into account the pupils’ educational and life experience, their interests and inclinations the priority of methods and forms of educational activity which provide the social interaction of students in the communication process increases. First of all, this can be interactive teaching methods which allow to fulfill the communicative-cognitive tasks by the means of foreign language communication. V. Red’ko and V. Burenko work out their own point of view as to the content of the teaching of a foreign language, which is implemented in the textbooks, and in particular as to what it should provide. L. Sazhko characterizes the features of the foreign language communicative competence formation at schools with the profound studying of foreign languages: establishment of the translation course and the course of guides-interpreters, amplification of integral education and the introduction of bilingual education, the support of specialized education. The scientists’ views on the values and language identity are stated. I. Khaleeva, on the basis of the U. Karaulova’s treating the linguistic personality not only as a bearer of the language material in the systemic and functional aspects (linguistic consciousness) has carried out a statement about the study of a foreign language as the formation of «secondary language personality». This linguistic personality contains a range of certain qualities. First of all, it is the ability to participate in a variety of types of conscious speech activity and to use the various communication roles in terms of social interaction of people with each other and with the world that surrounds them. The author emphasizes the necessity of the further improvement of the teaching of a foreign language.

Authorship profiling, i.e. revealing information about an unknown author by analyzing their text, is a task of growing importance. One of the most urgent problems of authorship profiling (AP) is selecting text parameters which may correlate to an author’s personality. Most researchers’ selection of these is not underpinned by any theory. This article proposes an approach to AP which applies neuroscience data. The aim of the study is to assess the probability of selfdestructive behaviour of an individual via formal parameters of their texts. Here we have used the “Personality Corpus”, which consists of Russian-language texts. A set of correlations between scores on the Freiburg Personality Inventory scales that are known to be indicative of self-destructive behaviour (“Spontaneous Aggressiveness”, “Depressiveness”, “Emotional Lability”, and “Composedness”) and text variables (average sentence length, lexical diversity etc.) has been calculated. Further, a mathematical model which predicts the probability of selfdestructive behaviour has been obtained.

The article deals with the peculiarities of the language personality (LP) structuring. The LP is viewed as a generalized image of the language speaker who uses the language as a means of nationally specific knowledge representation. The author classifies the factors which influence the LP formation and elaborates its level-and-component model as a system of four strata each combining a psychophysical and social component.

Статья посвящена особенностям структурирования языковой личности, которая трактуется как обобщенный образ человека, пользующегося языком как национально специфическим инструментом для репрезентации знаний. Автор систематизирует факторы, влияющие на формирование языковой личности, и разрабатывает ее уровнево-компонентную модель в виде системы четырех уровней, каждый из которых включает психофизический и социальный компоненты.

The article presents the analysis of the peculiar use of Biblicisms of diff erent types in T. Shevchenko’s letters and diaries. As the result, the author concludes that biblicity is one of the major features of the diary and epistolary genres of the poet. It has been shown that T. Shevchenko frequently uses lexical Biblicisms both in the direct and in the metaphoric meanings enriching their semantics. T. Shevchenko’s ego-texts usually contain Biblicisms that verbalize the theme block “person”, in particular, for self-portraying or depicting other people’s behavior, traits of character, mental and physical state. They are the means of creating expressive emphasis in the text as they are used in diff erent tropes and fi gures as well as in language play. The feature of Kobzar’s letters and diaries proves the hypothesis about the close connection of language and religion, religious and language mapping of the world, the immortality of the Holy Scripture that is a constant source of lingual creativity of prominent language personality, representing their intimate sphere of work.
