Ecological awareness and the resulting ecological behaviors during the tourist trip are important issues for the future of resources and absorption of the tourism market. Authors put up a thesis that ecological awareness can be related with the way of life and the ways of consumption, but pro-ecological activities can also be the result of short-lived fashion. The aim of the article is to analyze the relationship between ecological awareness, lifestyle and real consumer behavior in the tourist market. The author presents the authoritative division of environmental factors of consumer behavior in the tourist market: personal, social (conformist) and ideological conditions. According to the suggestions presented in the Report from the analysis of awareness, attitudes and ecological behavior of Poles conducted in Poland in 2009–2015 for the Ministry of the Environment, qualitative research in the form of focused group interviews was used for empirical verifi cation of relations between ecological awareness and tourists’ activities. It was noted that young people represent a high level of ecological awareness and understand the need to care for natural resources. However, behaviors are primarily influenced by social (conformist) conditions, which result from the acceptance of processes and phenomena that are happening in modern society: fashion for ecology, mandatory regulations, the desire to save money, etc. But youth also presents ecological behaviors that are the result of deep concern for the future. In order for ecological education to be effective and an integral part of the lifestyle, awareness of nature conservation should translate into real action. This is possible if the basic behavioral determinants are those described in this article as ideological as opposed to personal and conformist.

Dwelling is one of the practices that builds the lifestyle of an individual who selects convenient, usually consistent elements from the entire range of communication offers. Analysis shows how living space is organised and presented in new development investments. The aim of the analysis was to reconstruct images of modern housing based on the marketing communication which is presented on development companies’ websites. It was possible to distinguish repetitive narratives about flats and estates considered as spaces that perform functions and serve specific purposes. The concept of JOS (Linguistic Image of the World) was used for the analysis and facilitated the discovery of the representation of the perception of reality contained in language. The research was based on the vocabulary, phraseology and semantics of the texts. The analysis made it possible to perceive and describe five highlights in communication dimensions of living (location, design adaptation, safety, community and comfort). Capturing the relationship between linguistic and social elements and their meaning, significant from the point of view of creating meanings, has led to the conclusion that buying an apartment from a developer equals buying a specific lifestyle. Developers using communication based on social norms and aspirations offer the individual a coherent vision of a “better” future and an ideal life. Despite the slight differences between various estate investments, the picture of residence presented in the marketing communications is universal—it refers to a small catalogue of values.

Introduction: According to medical statistical data, health condition of Polish young generation is worsening. Both, children and adults, tend to suffer from lingering diseases. The reason for it is to be found in ageing of the society, lowering standard of life of many families in Poland, overuse of chemical substances, air pollution, alcohol abuse and a variety of alcohol-related diseases. Further factors to be blamed are: drug abuse and addiction, neglecting one’s health condition or lack of physical activity. This is worsened by lack of sufficient financial means from the government for nationwide prophylaxis and treatment. One of essential elements of healthy life and good health is regular physical activity, taking care of wellness and fitness of one’s body. Lack of physical activity may lead to numerous lingering diseases and disorders, mainly heart and circulatory diseases, obesity, vertebral diseases and spine curvature disorders, pulmonary diseases, etc. Physical activity is not only perceived as a significant factor in a human being development, but also a positive measurement of human health. Aim: To establish role of health in one’s declared axiological system in the context of health education od candidates for professional soldiers. Material and method: The research was carried out among soldiers of the Land Forces Training Centre in Poznań. Results: Good health was rarely among selected symbols of personal happiness. Conclusions: New curricula for training of professional soldiers should be written in such a way that they provide support for candidates within the domain of healthy lifestyle with both, theoretical and practical knowledge.

Main goal of the article is attempt to find the fountain of youth?. The author looks for non-obvious examples, mainly referring to rock'n'roll and lifestyle associated with this cultural phenomenon. The author discusses the way of life presented by musicians and the opinions of the geriatrics. The main argument of the article is that the source of youth will not be in a healthy diet or hygienic way of life. We need to find meaning in our actions, maintaining social bonds, fostering rebellion and indignation, sometimes doing something selfishly and enjoying life.

Today there is more of a dialectical approach to the meanings of leisure. In earlier times there was more of a consensus or similar understanding of one's free time. The purpose of this paper is to explain today's various meanings of leisure. We discuss the meaning of time and space and its relation to leisure. In addition we have focused on a discussion of free time, work and not work, as well as one's lifestyle. In particular we will introduce the ideas of Dumazedier. In summary we concur with other authors, especially Dumazedier, that leisure is more than free time: it is best understand as a way of life, as a lifestyle.

In the research we focus on the construction of the sexual lifestyles of young people-undergraduates-in Slovakia and ask “which cultural sources are used?” and “which cultural demands exert pressures on these constructions?” The analysis was based on the answers respondents provided to a questionnaire relating to the preferences of values, aspirations regarding partner and sexual life as well as the socio-economic background of respondents. On the basis of the factor analysis and other steps, we obtained five groups of respondents with different lifestyles: 1. Liberal-free, 2. Partner-monogamous, 3. Natural-instinctive, 4. Hedonistic-free, 5. Submissive-partner. The research proves that while constructing their sexual lifestyles, young people experience confusion as to their personal interests, preferences, internal orientation of partner relationships, and culturally prescribed norms of monogamous relationships.

This article deals with the relationships between seniors’ lifestyles and their health and quality of life with respect to the determinants and consequences of aging. As found, considering the complex and dynamically changing set of factors determining individuals’ lifestyles the elderly “withdraw from life” too early and too far. This worrying finding brings into attention active recreation as an approach allowing people to maintain physical fitness, mental health and social activity, and thus being capable of postponing the most severe effects of aging. Before presenting the potential of active tourism as a useful instrument of active recreation, the social consequences of aging and the special character of „seniors” as a social group are discussed in terms of what enables and what restricts the use of free time. This provides a background for showing the functions of tourism as an activity having a beneficial effect not only on physical and mental health, but also on the social interaction of elderly people. Active recreation effectively compensates for losses caused by economic inactivity and withdrawal from certain social roles by building various social relations (including intergenerational) and breaking isolation, as well as by initiating a learning process based on new experiences and contacts, and developing interests and skills that strengthen the feeling of independence, self-confidence and self-esteem. Active tourism, adjusted to the needs and capabilities of elderly people, may make a measurable contribution to better quality of their lives.

The aim of the article is to show the way in which the technologically mediated culture of consumption determines what we call lifestyle in the perspective of the critical cultural studies paradigm. Contemporary consumption, based as it is on the counter-cultural ideas which appeal to difference, creativity and lifestyle, solves the central problem of consumerism – supplying a constant stream of novelty in a situation where things are losing just this quality. Lifestyle has become a life strategy, the framework for interpreting consumer choice suggests that freely made decisions concerning symbolic and aesthetic pleasures provide a sense of fulfilment in a successful and varied lifestyle. Culture is increasingly perceived through the prism of who we should be, and what we should have, in order to achieve by means of these an illusory goal, namely that of identity.

A description of borderland as a space can be inspiring for an analytical presentation of other social phenomena in which coexisting borderline categories occur. An example is social stratification within which different groups of individuals referred to as layers, castes or classes can be distinguished. Their character is arbitrary, resulting from a concern for the conventional, often not very distinctive interests of some social groups. Since the 19th century, the most widespread stratification system in Western societies has been the class system. However, its analytical value has been fading due to the blurring of boundaries between particular classes. The social classes, on the one hand, are subject to strong internal differentiation and are losing their previous cohesion, and on the other hand, they are becoming similar in many respects. Therefore there is a need to create an alternative and more analytically useful way of categorizing societies in contemporary social sciences. Segmentation based on the category of lifestyle seems valuable, because lifestyle is what, in a particularly important way, differentiates in the social dimension individuals forming contemporary Western societies. At the same time, this category is so capacious and distinctive that it can be analytically useful for representatives of various social sciences. The aim of the paper is, first of all, to present the structural foundation of class systems, secondly, to identify the reasons for the loss of their analytical value, and thirdly, to discuss the scientifically useful segmentation of society relating to different lifestyles.

In modern society one of the basic goals of human life is to continually make and spend money. Young consumers, as people brought up under the conditions of this process formed their own market behavior and determined a certain lifestyle. In this article, the author presents the relationship between the current life styles in contemporary society and the behaviour of young people in the market. Observation of the behaviour of the older generation by the representatives of the Y generation and the changes taking place on the market as a result of globalization have resulted in the formation of two different directions in the patterns of the consumption of young people. It can be observed that there are selfi sh consumers on the one hand and altruistic consumers on the other hand, who behave according to assumptions of sustainable consumption. This study focuses on the presentation of the second type of young consumers. They were indicated for their subgroups and assigned to appropriate consumer trends and to the lifestyle related to their behaviour.

The moral teaching of Jehovah’s Witnesses about the proper lifestyle em-phasizes, above all, due relations with parents and peers, entertainment and concern for the health of adolescents. In the articles of the Society of the Watchtower, the authors of the magazines emphasize that young people choose such friends for whom moral values are the basic measure of Christian life. The attitude of humiliation towards parents should result from purely religious reasons, and disobedience results in suspicion, lack of trust and abandonment of spiritual practices. Jehovah’s Witnesses believe that young people reach for stimulants to alleviate problems. Regardless of the consequences, they destroy health and ruin their own future. The young man begins to compensate for the lack of due love by reaching for the drug. Young people use free time not always in a constructive way. They play sports, but often for vain competition and fame. They listen to loud music isolating themselves from external stimuli. They often fall into gambling and pornography, making themselves slaves of their own mistakes and falls. According to Jehovahʼs Witnesses, these symptoms mean “last days”. Only those who reject moral contamination can expect a beautiful future.

This article examines the phenomenon of solitary living as a consequence of the processes of individualization that are characteristic of the entire modern world. The urgency of this problem arises from the increase in the number of individuals who prefer to live alone. Although this trend is typical for Eastern Europe, as it is for the rest of the world, it is not widely considered in scientific circles. Whilst analyzing scientific literature in different spheres (philosophy, economics, psychology, sociology) and statistical data on solitary living, the author has come to the conclusion that to describe the phenomenon in a sociological vein, it is most appropriate to consider solitary living as a “solo-living” lifestyle. The article also examines the main studies of solitary living in Eastern Europe, and through such work, it was concluded that there is not enough research: current research mainly considers single living among the older generation, despite the fact that the number of young people who prefer this lifestyle continues to grow. In the course of the study, the author was faced with the problem of layering related concepts: solos, singles, solo-living, single-person households, and others. To avoid this problem, the author distinguishes between these concepts and makes an attempt to conceptualize the concept of “solo-living”, offers the author’s definition, and outlines further research prospects.
