This article discusses the final processing of flint axes and wedge-shaped tools. The author in his considerations focuses primarily on the use of two hypothetical processes, i.e. hand grinding or grinding with extra weight at the final stage of manufacturing these tools. Thus, he refers to the work by Danish archaeologist B. Madsen of 1984, entitled “Flint Axe Manufacture in the Neolithic: Experiments with Grinding and Polishing of Thin-Butted Flint Axes”, in which the researcher discussed, for the first time, an occurrence of these techniques in the axe-production process. The author of the article makes an attempt to repeat Madsen’s achievements, to check validity of the concept, and to include also an issue of using so called abrasive materials to support a grinding process in prehistory.

In 2011 a new site was discovered in Buniewice, on Chrząszczewska Island, NW Poland. The surface collection contains artifacts of different Stone Age periods, among others the assemblage related to Final Paleolithic Tanged Points Technocomplex. An article presents the materials from Buniewice and preliminary results of technological analysis. An essential issue is method of division and analysis of mixed collections, based on technological approach. Second part of the paper is dedicated to both archaeological and environmental context of the Final Pleistocene finds in area of Islands of Pomeranian Bay. Main problem are the oldest finds and colonization of this area.

Article present results of analysis of lithics from Late Palaeolithic Hamburgian site Mirkowice 33 located in the eastern part of Greater Poland. Analysis was conduct with the use of refitting method. Results show technological differences in lithic production and spatial structuring of the camp. It also presents the relations between particular zones of the camp and groups of products manufactured by the knappers with different lithic processing skills. Integrated technological and spatial aspects allow to study the social dimension of flint knapping at the site.

This paper reports briefly on the results of a short reconnaissance at the site of Qumayrah–Ayn 2 (QA 2), a new prehistoric site located in a poorly studied part of the Qumayrah Valley in northern Oman. A survey and limited probing by the Omani–Polish Qumayrah Archaeological Project confirmed the presence of a sediment, approximately 15–20 cm thick, which yielded not just lithics, but also stone installations discovered in situ. One of these installations was evidently a hearth, the other a kind of platform. The lithic assemblage is characterized by a prevalence of flake technology with rare blade products. Predominant in the tools group are side-scrapers, notches and perforators produced by direct-scaled retouch. The most characteristic tools are tanged projectile points made on flakes. The main problem is contextualizing these materials. On the grounds of certain premises they may be associated with the Fasad technocomplex, but not necessarily the pre-Neolithic one as is the case of the classic types. However, a much later chronology is also quite possible.
