This article contributes to the rapidly growing body of literature regarding general good theory building practices with regard to organisational politics. The results of the review revealed and highlighted five core components of contemporary thinking about theory building: constrained comprehending, conjunctive theorising, theorising styles, pragmatic-empirical approach, and science-practice gap. Tying together those insights, the authors have developed a framework to distinguish a specific set of recommendations which clarify and organise theoretical foundations of organisational politics researching: cooperation of academics and managers, requisite complexity, contextualisation, versatility, and process perspective. In the authors' opinion, this provides a substantial opportunity for theoretical advancement through a careful methodological application.

Socjologowie analityczni wydają się podzielać przekonanie, że najlepszym sposobem wyjaśniania zjawisk społecznych są teorie średniego zasięgu, a zachowania społeczne są wypadkową zachowań jednostek. Działania podmiotów w skali mikro realizują się na poziomie grup i instytucji społecznych, a poziom makro oddziałuje na jednostki poprzez fakty społeczne oraz kontekst, w którym dokonuje się socjalizacja. Program socjologii analitycznej miał w założeniu służyć pogłębieniu rozumienia zjawisk społecznych o wyjaśnienie mechanizmów ich powstawania. Nie wystarczy zaobserwowanie korelacji między zmiennymi, konieczne jest zanalizowanie tego, jak przebiega głęboka zależność między poszczególnymi elementami budującymi wyjaśniany mechanizm społeczny – dowodził Peter Hedström. Przy tak skonstruowanych postulatach teoretycznych i metodologicznych szczególną słabość dostrzega się w analizach z dziedziny socjologii historycznej. Socjologia historyczna może jednak przyjąć dodatkowe założenia metodologiczne, które pozwolą jej na włączenie niektórych założeń socjologii analitycznej i przez to wzbogacenie potencjału poznawczego socjologii historycznej, a także systematyzację i formalizację jej dorobku. Artykuł ma na celu pokazanie, że istnieje możliwość integracji socjologii analitycznej z socjologią historyczną. Socjologia historyczna może otrzymać nowy impuls badawczy poprzez wykorzystanie dostępnych archiwów historycznych i zastosowanie reguł metodologicznych proponowanych przez socjologię analityczną. Szczególnie ważne wydaje się zastosowanie analizy sieci społecznych.

Analytical sociologists seem to share the belief that mid-range theories are the best way to explain social phenomena, and that social behaviour is a product of individual behaviour. The activities of individuals at the micro level are carried out at the level of social groups and institutions, and the macro level influences individuals through social facts and the context in which socialisation takes place. The programme of analytical sociology was intended to deepen the understanding of social phenomena and to explain the mechanisms of their formation. It is not enough to observe the correla-tion relationships between the variables, it is necessary to analyse the deep dependence between the elements that build the social mechanism to be explained – argued Peter Hedström. With theoretical and methodological postulates constructed in such a way, a particular weakness is perceived in analyses in the field of historical sociology. Historical sociology, however, may adopt additional theoretical assumptions, which will allow it to adopt some of the methods of analytical sociology, and thus it may enrich the informative potential of historical sociology, as well as systematise and for-malise the discipline.The article aims to show that it is possible to integrate analytical so-ciology with historical sociology. Historical sociology can receive a new research impulse by making use of the available historical archives and ap-plying the methodological rules proposed by analytical sociology. The use of social network analysis seems to be of particular importance.
