The aim of this article is to examine nursing staff's attitudes to the use of stimulation methods for the care of unconscious patients. *is paper presents the results of a case study conducted in Intensive Care Units in Szczecin. Based on the data, it can be concluded that there is a clear need to improve the professional skills and communicative competence of nursing sta( with respect to the stimulation of unconscious patients. Research indicated the need to determine whether the use of stimulating methods is theresponsibility of nursing sta(. Despite general good will and sta( conviction on the use of stimulating methods, there are a number of barriers. *ese include misinformation, a lack of substantial competence and time constraints due to a multiplicity of duties.

Celem artykułu jest określenie stosunku personelu pielęgniarskiego do stosowania metod stymulacji pacjenta nieprzytomnego. Artykuł prezentuje wyniki studium przypadku przeprowadzonego na Oddziałach Intensywnej Opieki Medycznej w Szczecinie. Na podstawie danych można stwierdzić, że istnieje wyraźna potrzeba doskonalenia umiejętności zawodowych i kompetencji komunikacyjnych personelu pielęgniarskiego w zakresie stymulacji pacjentów nieprzytomnych. Badania wskazują na konieczność rozstrzygnięcia, czy stymulowanie pacjenta nieprzytomnego należy do obowiązków personelu pielęgniarskiego. Mimo powszechnej dobrej woli i przeświadczenia personelu o stosowaniu niektórych form stymulacji pacjenta nieprzytomnego istnieje wiele barier, w tym: dezinformacja, brak przygotowania merytorycznego oraz ograniczenia czasowe, wynikające z wielości obowiązków.
