Powstała w 2019 roku inicjatywa „Ziemski lament” rewitalizuje i rekontekstualizuje obrzęd śpiewu pieśni lamentacyjnych oraz żałobnych pochodzący z wiejskiej kultury tradycyjnej. Grupa, którą opisuję w kategoriach communitas, wykonuje utwory zaczerpnięte ze Śpiewnika Pelplińskiego. Ten rodzaj wspólnotowej ekspresji służy do przepracowywania negatywnych emocji wywołanych konsekwencjami katastrofy klimatycznej i eksploatacji pozaludzkiej przyrody. Jest także narzędziem krytyki odpowiedzialnych za te zjawiska strategii. Zawarte w artykule badanie cech gatunkowych oraz własności obiegu lamentacji stanowi punkt wyjścia do rozważań o funkcjonalności tej formy protestu ekologicznego.

Founded in 2019, the “Ziemski Lament” [Earthly Lament] initiative revitalizes and recontextualizes the folk rite of singing lamentations and dirges which come from traditional rural culture. The group, which I describe using the category of communitas, performs songs taken from Śpiewnik Pelpliński, an extensive 19-century collection of religious songs. This type of communal expression is used to work through negative emotions caused by the consequences of the climate disaster and of exploitation of non-human nature. It is also an instrument of criticism of the strategies responsible for these phenomena. This article takes the study of the lamentation’s essential features and ways of circulation as the point of departure for a reflection on the functionality of this form of ecological protest.

Obierając za punkt wyjścia książkę Pisać Marguarite Duras, tekst przygląda się relacji między pisaniem a alkoholizmem. Duras do końca życia zmagała się z alkoholizmem i dość otwarcie o tym mówiła, mimo że pijąca pisarka nie ma w kulturze tak romantycznego statusu jak pijący mężczyzna. Tekst jest następnie zwięzłą pisarską autobiografią, opowiada o doświadczeniach czasu i poza-ludzkiej przyrody, a także o ewolucji podmiotowej postawy wobec tych fundamentalnych kwestii. W ostatniej części tekst przechodzi od tonu eseistycznego do literackiego.

Taking Marguerite Duras’ book Ecrire as its starting point the text examines the relationships between writing and alcoholism. Duras struggled with alcoholism till the end of her life and spoke about it relatively openly, in spite of the fact that a drinking woman-writer does not hold the same romantic position in literary culture as drinking male writers do. Next the text presents a brief literary autobiography, discussing the experience of time and non-human nature, as well as the evolution of the subjective response to these fundamental issues. In the last part of the text the essay gives way to literary fiction.
