The purpose of this article is to show the possibility of using the Solver add-in to optimize many logistics processes. Two different cases are presented: resource distribution and minimization of storage costs, along with the resulting optimization of inventories. Each of the analysed situations is enriched with a theoretical description of the problem in order to minimize the risk of understanding this article as a set of disconnected issues. The article draws on the author’s experience and Polish-language literature.

Celem artykułu jest pokazanie możliwości wykorzystania dodatku Solver pod kątem optymalizacji wielu procesów logistycznych. Zaprezentowane zostały dwa różne przypadki, które dotyczyły: dystrybucji zasobów oraz minimalizacji kosztów magazynowania wraz z idącą za tym optymalizacją zapasów. Każda z analizowanych sytuacji została wzbogacona o teoretyczny opis problemu w celu zminimalizowania ryzyka zrozumienia niniejszej publikacji jako zbioru oderwanych od siebie zagadnień. Całość została napisana w oparciu o doświadczenie autora oraz polskojęzyczną literaturę.

We consider the sugar dispatching process at a sugar mill. The main goal of our work was to check an efficiency of the logistics system in the mill, find and correct the bottlenecks. Some methods for logistics processes optimization are presented. We base on the heuristics and CLP techniques for solving the scheduling problems. Some additional remarks about possibility of using the optimization methods in scheduling and logistics optimizations are presented too.
