The given study explores the subject of the effectiveness of the regulatory policy in the field of orthography introduced  in recent years by the Royal Spanish Academy, the Polish Language Council and the French Academy. The main purpose of the work is to present  the differences between the behaviour of the users of the three languages: Spanish, French and Polish against some normative provisions in the field of orthography and to suggest answers to a few key questions: Who shows the most favourable attitude towards the norms established by the linguistic institutions of their country? In what situations do speakers reject or accept new spelling forms?

La RAE y la ASALE publicaron en 2010 su Ortografía de la lengua española, en la que, entre otras normas, se fijan las del uso de los signos de puntuación. La competencia ortográfica para el empleo de dichos signos, y, en concreto, de la coma, requiere por parte de los usuarios un complejo conocimiento lingüístico (de prosodia, morfosintaxis, semántica, discurso...) y extralingüístico. A la vista de tal complejidad, el propósito de este artículo consiste en la realización de una revisión crítica de las funciones principales de la coma y de los criterios seguidos en esta obra para establecer sus reglas de empleo.

The RAE and the ASALE published their Ortografía de la lengua española in 2010, where, among other orthographic rules, the use of punctuation marks is established. The orthographic competence for the use of these signs, particularly in the case of the comma, requires a complex linguistic (prosody, morphosyntax, semantics, discourse analysis, etc.) and extralinguistic know-ledge on the part of its users. In view of such complexity, this article seeks to conduct a critical review of the main functions of the comma and the criteria followed in the aforementioned work to establish the rules for comma usage.

RAE i ASALE opublikowały w 2010 r. swoją Ortografía de la lengua española w 2010 r., gdzie ustalono między innymi zasady interpunkcji. Kompetencje ortograficzne w zakresie używania znaków przestankowych, szczególnie przecinka, wymagają od użytkownika złożonej wiedzy lingwistycznej (prozodia, morfosyntaksa, semantyka, analiza dyskursu itp.) i pozalinguistycznej. W związku z tym niniejszy artykuł ma na celu przeprowadzenie krytycznego przeglądu głównych funkcji przecinka oraz kryteriów zastosowanych we wspomnianej pracy w celu ustalenia zasad użycia przecinka.
