Divergent thinking is one of creative attitude components that characterizes talented people. Stimulating the development of this type of thinking is one of the tasks facing modern schools, because it is necessary for the proper functioning of an individual in modern society and the realization of his or her subjectivity. Rapid changes in the surrounding reality require an equally quick response and the ability to create new, diverse solutions to emerging problems. The aim of this article is to present philosophizing with children as method that helps stimulate development of divergent thinking. At the beginning, the relationship between creative abilities and creative thinking was discussed, one of the constitutional elements of which is divergent thinking. Then, a definitional approach to the above issue is presented, which is the basis for considering the characteristics of philosophizing with children, aimed at the development of divergent thinking, and in a broader perspective, the integral development of the student as a person.

Myślenie dywergencyjne stanowi jeden z komponentów postawy twórczej, charakterystycznej dla osób uzdolnionych. Stymulowanie rozwoju tego typu myślenia jest jednym z zadań stojących przed współczesną szkołą, gdyż jest ono niezbędne dla właściwego funkcjonowania jednostki we współczesnym społeczeństwie oraz realizowania przez nią swojej podmiotowości. Szybkie zmiany w otaczającej rzeczywistości wymagają równie szybkiej reakcji oraz umiejętności wytwarzania nowych, różnorodnych rozwiązań dla pojawiających się problemów. Podejmowanym w artykule zagadnieniem jest stymulowanie rozwoju myślenia dywergencyjnego dzieci w młodszym wieku szkolnym z wykorzystaniem filozofowania. Na wstępie omówiony został związek zdolności i myślenia twórczego, którego jednym z elementów konstytucyjnych jest myślenie dywergencyjne. Następnie przedstawiono ujęcie definicyjne powyższego zagadnienia, będące podstawą dla podjęcia rozważań dotyczących charakterystyki filozofowania z dziećmi, mającego na celu rozwój myślenia dywergencyjnego, a w szerszej perspektywie integralny rozwój osoby wychowanka.
