This article concerns the culinary vocabulary of the Northern Borderlands. The subject matter of the discussions is phrasemes limited to the ones that are common to the language communities mixing in the territory of Lithuania for a long time: Lithuanians, Belarusians, Poles, and Russians. The language material comes from the Vilnius press of the period 1960–1979 and book publications printed in Soviet Lithuania in 1949–1985. It was selected from among around 120 multi-word culinary units of the Northern Borderlands according to one formula: namely, a phraseme used in the same meaning and form in Lithuanian Polish, in Russian, Belarusian, and Lithuanian.

Od czasu pojawienia się sond językowych opracowanych przez A. Bogusławskiego i jego współpracowników wzrosło zainteresowanie lingwistów wielowyrazowymi jednostkami języka. Badacze skupiają jednak uwagę niemal wyłącznie na frazemach ogólnopolskich, frazematyka północnokresowa pozostaje w zasadzie niezbadana. Autorzy dokonali przeglądu nielicznych zarejestrowanych frazemów północnokresowych, wykazali, że nastręczają one badaczom więcej problemów niż jednostki wielowyrazowe z terenów etnicznych. Ich rzetelny opis wymaga dysponowania bogatą listą przykładów zróżnicowanych terytorialnie i datowanych, a także dysponowania stosunkowo kompletnymi opracowaniami frazematyki rosyjskiej, białoruskiej i litewskiej. Autorzy są właścicielami dwóch obszernych kartotek frazemów północnokresowych. W artykule zarysowują koncepcję sformalizowanego opisu tego materiału wzorowaną na opracowaniach A. Bogusławskiego.

Since the appearance of the linguistic surveys by Bogusławski et al., interest in multiword linguistic units has grown among linguists. However, researchers have focused their attention almost exclusively on phrasemes in standard Polish, and the phraseology of the Northern Borderlands has remained essentially unstudied. The authors have conducted a review of the few recorded Northern Borderlands phrasemes and demonstrated that they present researchers with more problems than the multiword expressions from the ethnic majority areas. A proper description of these requires the availability of a rich list of examples that are geographicallyvaried and dated, as well as the availability of relatively complete studies of Russian, Belorussian and Lithuanian phraseology. The authors hold two vast card indexes of Northern Borderlands phrases. In the article, they outline a concept for a formal description of this material based on the work of A. Bogusławski.

Artykuł dotyczy frazematyki polszczyzny przedwojennego Lwowa i Czerniowiec. Miasta te były wielojęzyczne i wielokulturowe, a język polski był tam reprezentowany przez dialekt południowokresowy. Obce wpływy we frazematyce Lwowa i Czerniowiec dają się ująć jako cytaty, kalki, półkalki, a także zapożyczenia leksykalne, na podstawie których powstały frazemy. Ogólnie rzecz ujmując, omówione w artykule jednostki można podzielić na dwie grupy. Z jednej strony mamy do czynienia z frazemami charakterystycznymi dla przedwojennego Lwowa i Czerniowiec, nieznanymi właściwie poza tymi miastami czy szerzej – poza Galicją Wschodnią i Bukowiną Karpacką. Jest to szczególnie widoczne we frazematyce nawiązującej do języka rumuńskiego. Z drugiej strony frazematyka południowokresowa z wpływami niemieckimi wykazuje pewne podobieństwo do frazematyki dialektalnej tych części Polski, które były wystawione na silne oddziaływanie języka niemieckiego.

This article concerns the phrasematics of the Polish language of pre-war Lviv and Chernivtsi. These cities were multilingual and multicultural, and Polish language was represented there by the South-Eastern dialect. Foreign influences in Lviv and Chernivtsi phrasematics can be summarized as: citation, calque, half-calqua, as well as lexical borrowings, on the basis of which phrasemes were created. In general, the phrasemes discussed in the article can be divided into two groups. On the one hand, we deal with phrasemes characteristic of pre-war Lviv and Chernivtsi, unknown beyond these cities or, more broadly, outside of Eastern Galicia and Bukovina. This is particularly evident in the phrasematics referring to the Romanian language. On the other hand, the phrasematics of the South-Eastern dialect with German influences shows some similarity to the dialectal phrasematics of those parts of Poland which were exposed to the strong influence of the German language.

This article offers an analysis of the phraseology in the Rafał Ziemkiewicz’s blog published in Rzeczpospolita online edition. The analysis is based on 18 entries written in the first half of 2009. The paper attempts to describe the functions of particular types of phrases and the relation between the functional and individual style of the discussed linguistic units. The article presents phraseological units and phrasems which follow the rules of contemporary Polish language, phraseological units and phrasems which represent the most important of Polish language as well as phraseological (modifying) innovations and phrasematics (‘winged’ words, phrasems, allusions, references, evocations, proper nouns and terms). While presenting the phraseological units and phrasems, the author follows the typology of Pajdzin´ska and Lewicki.

There has been presented a variety of religiously derived phrasemes and they have been analysed in order to determine a feature of style and a linguistic manner of creation of the world presented in the novel. In mental world of the characters of Trilogy, religion is the only worldview, and religiousness is the approach affecting all aspects of life. For instance, Swedish invaders are characterized as people wandering off religion, whereas Poles emphasise their „folk” religiousness, f.e. among gentry, soldiers, servants, etc.
