In 2008 the Minister for National Education accepted the new Basis for General Education, which caused that a revisal of the Basis for the Curriculum of Catechesis was necessary. In the amended form it was approved of by the Conference of the Episcopate of Poland in March 2010. This fact issues a challenge for catechists and handbook authors to reflect on the existing teaching aids. It is an opportunity to undertake both an in-depth theoretical analysis and empirical studies of the handbooks. Basically, studies of a handbook may be conducted in two planes: theoretical and empirical. The former one, basic in the study procedure, allows a confrontation of the features of the handbook with the assumed theoretical model, which makes it possible to provisionally assess it. The analysis is concerned with the assessment of the choice and correctness of its contents; with the definition of its aim and function, correctness of its structure, its conformity with the curriculum, methodical approach, and the quality of its layout. In empirical studies it is important to study the teaching and learning effects being the result of the use of the chosen handbook or its elements. Also, the effects may be compared of the use of several handbooks, or the teaching – learning effects without using them, or a comparison may be made of the effects of the use of other teaching aids. The basic question is: what to study and how to study it. The answer to the former of these questions is the object of studies that is characteristic from the didactic point of view. The answer to the latter one is concerned with study methods and tools useful in verification of handbooks.

The question of the Reformation in religious education textbooks for young people in 1990–2010 by Beata Bilicka is a continuation of her earlier research discussed in The question of the Reformation in catechisms and religious education textbooks in 1945–1990 (Teologia Praktyczna vol. 18, Poznań 2017, pp. 25–41). A temporal framework adopted in the text encompasses the years from 1990 to 2010. The year 1990 marks the return of religious education to schools and kindergartens, which required the adjustment of religious education classes to the demands of the school, also in terms of textbooks. The year 2010 is associated with the publication of a core curriculum and syllabus of teaching religious education, which entailed the revision of textbooks. The main sources used in the research are religious education textbooks for students of lower secondary schools and secondary schools where the theme of schism in Western Christianity in the 16th century is discussed. The sources are analyzed and presented as a synthesis of the results. The article consists of three parts. The fi rst one discusses the causes and the course of the Reformation in religious education textbooks, the second part presents the basic principles of Protestant theology, while the third part includes synthetic conclusions.

Artykuł Beaty Bilickiej Zagadnienie reformacji w podręcznikach do nauki religii dla młodzieży w latach 1990–2010 stanowi kontynuację wcześniejszych badań autorki omówionych w publikacji Zagadnienie reformacji w katechizmach i podręcznikach do nauki religii w latach 1945–1990 („Teologia Praktyczna” T. 18, Poznań 2017 s. 25–41). Przyjęta w niniejszych badaniach cezura czasowa obejmuje lata 1990–2010. Wyznacza ją rok 1990 związany z powrotem religii do szkół i przedszkoli, co wymagało dostosowania nauki religii do wymogów oświatowych (także w zakresie podręczników), oraz rok 2010 związany z publikacją nowej podstawy i programu nauczania religii (co wiązało się z potrzebą aktualizacji podręczników). Podstawowymi źródłami, wykorzystanymi w badaniach, były podręczniki do nauki religii dla młodzieży szkół gimnazjalnych i ponadgimnazjalnych, w których występuje zagadnienie rozłamu Kościoła w XVI wieku. Źródła te zostały przeanalizowane, a następnie ujęte jako synteza wyników badań. Artykuł składa się z trzech części. Pierwsza omawia przyczyny i przebieg reformacji w podręcznikach do nauki religii, druga opisane w nich podstawowe założenia teologii protestanckiej. Całość wieńczą syntetycznie ujęte wnioski (część trzecia).

Coraz częściej podejmuje się inicjatywy, których celem jest zwrócenie społeczeństwu uwagi na starszą część populacji. W ten nurt wpisuje się także działalność katechetyczna Kościoła. Na katechezie podejmuje się bowiem problematykę starości i tak formuje uczniów, by szanowali osoby starsze, otoczyli je należną troską, a także zrozumieli i zaakceptowali ich sytuację życiową oraz potrzeby. Pomocą w realizacji tych zadań służą podręczniki do nauki religii, między innymi podręczniki z serii Drogi świadków Chrystusa. Podkreślają one istotną rolę starszej generacji w rodzinie i społeczeństwie i wzywają młodzież do odpowiedniego ich traktowania w duchu humanizmu i chrześcijańskiej miłości.

More and more frequently initiatives aiming at paying society attention to the older people have been taken up. Church catechetical activity also writes itself into this course. During catechesis the old age issues are dealt with and pupils are educated this way so that they respect elderly people, take care of them properly as well as understand and accept their life conditions and needs. Textbooks for teaching religion, e. g. books like "The ways of Christ's witnesses" series, play supportive role in the realization of mentioned tasks. These handbooks underline the crucial way of elderly people generation in family and society calling the youth to proper treating them in the spirit of humanism and christian love.

Più spesso si impegna nelle iniziative che richiamano l’attenzione dell’opinione pubblica alla parte più anziana della popolazione. Questa tendenza è presente anche nell’attività catechistica della Chiesa. La catechesi prende, infatti, i problemi della vecchiaia, e forma gli studenti così che loro possano rispettare gli anziani, dargli le dovute cure e comprendere ed accettare la loro situazione di vita e le loro esigenze. A tal scopo aiutano libri per l’insegnamento della religione, tra gli altri quelli di Vie dei testimoni del Cristo. Essi sottolineano il ruolo importante degli anziani nella famiglia e nella società e invitano i giovani di appropriarsi il loro trattamento nello spirito dell’umanesimo e dell’amore cristiano.
