What is volunteering? What is it for a volunteer and what is its place in their life? What is or was her/his ‘road’ to volunteering, in voluntary work or as a result of volunteering? In the article, the author looks for answers to these questions, presenting a research perspective using the metaphor of the road, projection and narrative techniques. Placing them in the context of the Y and Z generations, i.e. contemporary students – volunteers. It turns out that volunteering is a very intimate, subjective experience that specifically identifies a single person – a volunteer. The presented methodological approach is a proposal for the implementation of research that allows to discover the hidden meanings of volunteering in the life of a young person.

Czym jest wolontariat? Czym jest on dla wolontariusza i jakie miejsce zajmuje w jego życiu? Jaka jest lub była jej/jego droga do wolontariatu, w wolontariacie czy w wyniku wolontariatu? W artykule autorka poszukuje odpowiedzi na te pytania, prezentując perspektywę badawczą wykorzystującą metaforę drogi, techniki projekcyjne i narracyjne. Osadzając je w kontekście pokolenia Y i Z, a więc współczesnych studentów – wolontariuszy. Okazuje się, że wolontariat to doświadczenie bardzo intymne, subiektywne, w konkretny sposób wyznaczające pojedynczego człowieka – wolontariusza. Przedstawione ujęcie metodologiczne jest propozycją realizacji badań pozwalających na poznanie ukrytych sensów i znaczeń wolontariatu w życiu młodego człowieka.
