The article describes the sociological phenomenon of increasing interest in modernistic architecture built before the WWII and also in 60ties and 70ties, observed among professionals like art designers, architecture students or journalists as well as NGOs and groups of unprofessional architecture fans practising their fascination. Their interest unites different generations of the city tenants and bases on several forms of activities in virtual reality as well as in the material city space. In the first part of the text I present some general features of this phenomenon, while the second part includes the theoretical proposal of a frame for the sociological interpretations. I suggest that the renaissance (or disclosure?) of the modernistic architecture is connected to the contemporary change in the social policies of the past and also related to the growing role of everyday life and materiality of objects. Finally, I propose the redefinition of the philosophical category of atmosphere (Gernot Böhme) according to the concept of the augmented space to interpret some of the activities practised within the described environments and also the general statements about Warsaw experienced as a chaotic developed city space.
