The paper deals with the issue of pragmatic phraseological units in diverse legal documents. Pragmatic phraseological units–also known as legal routines-make together with legal terms and collocations the distinctive features of the legal documents. The paper aims in particular to define and describe the main characteristics of the legal routines based on numerous Polish and German examples. Moreover, the article discusses the main functions of legal Routines in legal texts and attempts to classify them in terms of their form, function and impact on the effectiveness of legal acts.
