The article presents the results of a comparative analysis of the regional newspaper “Dziennik Łódzki” (the oldest in the Łódź region) and its website www.dzienniklodzki.pl. The analysis concerned the scope of content exchange between the printed edition and the website, similarities and differences in journalistic publications both in traditional form and online, as well as a comparison of the hierarchy of importance of publications and a comparison of press genres – online and in the newspaper.

Niniejszy artykuł wpisuje się w nurt zagadnień określanych mianem życia gatunków. Celem było pokazanie zaczątków współcześnie wyróżnianych gatunków (głównie informacyjnych) w dawnej prasie. Tak postawiony problem badawczy wymagał włączenia perspektywy współczesnej do oglądu materiału historycznego. W artykule zwrócono uwagę na problemy wynikające z wyodrębniania dawnych form/gatunków wypowiedzi oraz z ich nazywania. Wnioski i postulaty badawcze przedstawione w opracowaniu zostały poparte analizami wypowiedzi prasowych pochodzących z XVIII i XIX wieku.

This paper deals with issues described as the life of genres. The aim was to present the early beginnings of modern genres, mainly informative ones, in the old press. Therefore it was essential to include modern perspective in the research of historical material. The problems with isolating old forms/genres of the statements and naming them was emphasized in the paper. Research postulates and conclusions were presented and supported by the analyses of the press statements of the 18th and 19th centuries.
