Artykuł jest próbą podsumowania doświadczeń nad wdrażaniem programu rewitalizacji historycznego założenia zespołu urbanistyczno-architektonicznego Miasta Kazimierzowskiego w Radomiu. Studia historyczne dowodzą o istotnych walorach kulturowych tego miejsca. Specyfika takich układów urbanistycznych wymusza konieczność przeprowadzenia rozległych dodatkowych badań historycznych, architektonicznych i archeologicznych. Jednocześnie przywracanie do użytkowania zniszczonych i wyeksploatowanych obiektów jest istotnym elementem kształtowania środowiska zbudowanego miasta. Niemniej ważnym elementem procesu rewitalizacji staje się kształtowanie nowej zabudowy mieszkaniowej w obrębie historycznych struktur miejskich, a tym samym tworzenie przyjaznego środowiska zamieszkania dla żyjących tam ludzi. Walory lokalizacyjne inicjują inne działania o charakterze przestrzennym i rewitalizacyjnym w bezpośrednim sąsiedztwie zespołu urbanistyczno-architektonicznego. Zmiany zachodzące na tego typu obszarach przebiegają wolno, jednak ze względu na lokalizację stają się przedmiotem zainteresowań i oceny społecznej. Artykuł odnosi się również do doświadczeń społecznych i technicznych związanych z realizacją programu rewitalizacji. Efekty wdrażania programu dla tego obszaru w widoczny sposób stają się istotnymi elementami uatrakcyjnienia przestrzennego śródmieścia i możliwością prezentacji jego alorów turystycznych.

This paper is an attempt to summarise the experience of the implementation of a local program of revitalisation in the historic town of Casimir, which is today a part of the modern city of Radom in central Poland. Historical studies indicate a significant cultural value of this site. The specificity of such old urban systems necessitates more historical research at selected architectural and archaeological sites. At the same time, the restoration of blighted sites is an important part of effort to shape the built environment of the city. No less important part of the revitalisation process is the shaping of new residential areas within historic urban districts, thereby creating a favourable living environment for people who want to live there. The unique location of central sites helps prompt other types of urban revitalisation in close proximity to historical sites located in central areas. Changes in these types of areas are slow; however, given the overall significance of central city districts, such changes are a major subject of interest and scientific evaluation. This paper also refers to social and technical issues related to the implementation of Radom‟s revitalisation program. The effects of the implementation of the revitalisation of this key urban area are important in order to boost tourism and development in the city‟s centre.
