The service of an evangelist is an important element of anglosasc protestantism. An evangelist has a huge influence on believers in shaping the awareness of their experience of God. He can do it by his zeal in calling for conversion and reminding about the meaning of the cross. Thanks to a style of his preaching he provides an audience to emotions that are necessary in a progress of the faith. The office of an evangelist was forgotten in a reality of the Catholic Church, although it has biblical roots. For this reason, it is to worth to pay attention to the mission of the evangelist in a catholic context.

The proper meaning of the reality of the English term “revival” guide us to understanding of a content of evangelical preaching. The term shows its essence and helps to understand its depth. As a result it is possible to interpret correctly of evangelical preaching and use its components for all kinds of preaching, the Catholic Church included. This paper unveils the meaning of “revival” in the light of the Old and New Testaments. Presents “revival” in the reflection of evangelical theology. Afterwards points out the specific features of evangelical preaching. In conclusion, based on presented material, it gives some practical suggestions regarding the preaching.

Prawidłowe odczytanie rzeczywistości angielskiego terminu „revival” pozwala zrozumieć treść przepowiadania ewangelikalnego. Odsłania jego istotę i prowadzi do odkrycia głębi w nim zawartej, co w konsekwencji daje możliwość poprawnej interpretacji oraz uprawnia do zastosowania obecnych w nim elementów dla przepowiadania, także w Kościele katolickim. Niniejszy artykuł odkrywa znaczenie „revival” w świetle Starego i Nowego Testamentu. Prezentuje „revival” w refleksji teologii ewangelikalnej. Następnie zwraca uwagę na cechy właściwe przepowiadaniu ewangelikalnemu. W zakończeniu zaś, na podstawie zgromadzonych informacji, podaje praktyczne wskazania dla przepowiadania.
