The advancing urbanization of villages is bringing with it the th re a t to abolish the village settling p a tterns that have come to existence in varying geographical and economic conditions. Thus the suggestions are put forward by the author th a t in separate regions of this country a number o f selected villages should be subjected to conservator’s protection with the aim in view to preserve their historic plains as documents of times th a t have passed. As a n example th e village Pańków in Tomaszów district is presented having an oval outlay which is rarely to be found on th a t area and its picturesque appearance represents an additional reason in favour of preservation of its special outlay.
