Hope is one of important factors affecting the psychological state of individuals. It influences well-being and self-esteem, academic and athletic performance, and even the probability of repeated incarceration of offenders. It also predicts the efficacy of the systematic psychotherapy of mental disorders, as well as the supportive psychotherapy in patients with oncologic illnesses. Hope has a central position in positive and clinical psychology. The aim of the presented work was to translate the adult dispositional hope scale into Czech, verify its psychometric properties and develop the norms for interpreting the resulting scores. The scale could be helpful both in mental health research and practice. 394 healthy adults participated in the study. The average age of the probands was 27.1 + 11.7 years. There were more women (n = 303; i.e. 76.9 %) than men. The most common level of education was secondary (n = 309; 78.4 %). The participants were mainly students (n = 273; 69.3 %) or employees and self-employed individuals (n = 113; 28.7 %). Most of them were single (n = 300; 76.1 %) or married (n = 84; 21.3 %). The Adult Dispositional Hope Scale consists of 12 items. Four items measure pathways thinking (i.e. the ability to find ways to achieve one's goals) and four items assess agency (i.e. goal-directed energy). The remaining four items are fillers that are not interpreted. Apart from this scale, all participants completed a demographic questionnaire and the second version of the Beck Depression Inventory. The statistical analyses consisted of the Cronbach's alpha and Spearman-Brown coefficient analysis, the exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, the correlation between the standardized scale and the Beck Depression Inventory-II, and finally the creation of the norms based on the stens. The overall rate of hope was not statistically significantly associated with the subjects' age (Spearman r = -0.06, non-significant), nor with their sex (Mann-Whitney U test: U = 13,624.5, non-significant). Reliability of the whole scale was assessed by using the Cronbach's alpha (? = 0.82) and the split-half method (the Spearman-Brown coefficient = 0.81). The inner consistency of both subscales was also adequate (the pathways thinking ? = 0.71, the agency ? = 0.73). The factor structure of the scale was confirmed by the exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. Nevertheless, the exploratory factor analysis identified the ninth item of the scale as problematic. It saturated both the pathways thinking and agency subscale, instead of belonging solely under its agency factor. This was also reflected in the confirmatory factor analysis, although all model fit indices reached satisfactory levels. The total score of the adult dispositional hope scale was significantly negatively correlated with the intensity of depressive symptoms (BDI-II) (Pearson r = -0.41, p ? 0.001). The sten norms were created for the score of the whole scale and both subscales. The Czech version of the Adult Dispositional Hope Scale shows adequate psychometric properties and can be used in the adult population. The norms should be applied with caution in individuals, who reached a primary or vocational level of education, and those who are unemployed, divorced, widowed or older than 60 years.

Objectives: estimation of psychometric properties of the Polish version of the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) to recognize the symptoms of postpartum depression. Material and methods: The study was conducted from 2007 to 2011. One hundred twenty six women after childbirth were examined. The mean age was 28,34 years (SD = 3,96). The Scale was administered between the 4th and 12th weeks after delivery (M = 6,56 weeks; SD = 2,14) to mothers, recruit ed previously at the gynecological clinics and prenatal classes. All participants were submitted to a structured interview for postpartum depression diagnosis. Participants completed Polish version of EPDS and Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) to verify the reliability and validity of the Polish version of EPDS. To assess psychometric properties of the scale, descriptives statistics, independent and dependent t-test, Cronbach’s alpha, Pearson’s correlation, exploratory factor analysis (with KMO-test) were conducted. The scale sensitivity and specificity were calculated, and the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was used to find the best cut-off point. Results: Using the factor analysis two factor were extracted, which accounted for 68,5% of the variance. Cronbachʼs alpha coefficient for the entire scale is high and amounts to 0,91. Stability factor estimated by test-retest was 0,761 (p < 0,05). Total scores of EPDS correlated significantly with the results of the BDI (r = 0,836, p < 0,01). Using 13/14 as the cut-off point, the scale’s sensitivity was 96%, the specificity was 93%. Conclusions: The good psychometric properties of the Polish version of the EPDS were confirmed in the present study. The results of the reliability of the Polish version of EPDS, do not differ from results obtained in other validation studies in the world. Polish version of the scale meets the basic psychometric criteria and can be successfully used to identify symptoms of postnatal depression.

The aim of the study was an initial investigation of the psychometric properties of the Slovak version of the Youth Internalizing Behavior Screener (YIBS) and Youth Externalizing Behavior Screener (YEBS). The sample consisted of 526 10- to 19-year-old students of primary and secondary schools (M = 12.81; SD = 2.00). Both measures, YIBS (ω = 0.87) and YEBS (ω = 0.81) had satisfactory reliability coefficients. Medium-to-large associations were found between school membership and internalizing (rs = - 0.44; p ˂ 0.001) as well as externalizing behaviors (rs = - 0.30; p ˂ 0.001). Findings from confirmatory factor analysis supported the two-factor structure of YIBS, measuring symptoms of anxiety and depression. Findings for YEBS were barely acceptable to support the three-factor measurement model (conduct problems, hyperactivity, attention problems) only after the identification and removal of a problematic item. The results of the investigation of psychometric properties of methods provide satisfactory evidence in favour of the Slovak version of the YIBS while addressing the need for rewording of the problematic YEBS item.

Objectives. The current study is focused on reporting psychometric properties of the BFI-2 short and extra-short forms in Slovakia. Sample and settings. Data were collected from a Slovak general adult sample (N = 801, 51.2% females) using an online research panel. Statistical analysis. Analysis focused on exploring the factor structure, gender differences, correlations with age and predictions of well-being criteria of the short forms and comparing these forms to the full BFI-2 item set. Results. Random intercept exploratory factor analysis showed that most items loaded on their intended factor in the short form; in the extra-short form a few cases of weak loadings or cross-loadings occurred. Part-whole correlations with the full form were strong. Compared to the full form, the short forms also showed a similar pattern of gender differences and correlations with age, suggesting quite strong congruence of these forms. Focusing on the prediction of selected well-being criteria, the short forms retained 88-94% of explained variance compared to the full form. In sum, these results suggest that short forms of the Slovak BFI-2 are appropriate when a short measure of the Big Five personality factors is needed but should be used with caution and whenever possible, full form should be used. Limitations. Limitations of the current study lie mainly in embedded administration of BFI- 2 shorter versions within full BFI-2, absenting investigation of test-retest stability and selfpeer congruence of results obtained by the short forms of BFI-2.

Objectives. The aim of the study was to assess the psychometric properties of a Czech adapta-tion of the Humor Structure Appreciation Scale (HSAS) which measures appreciation of two structural dimensions of humor: incongruity-resolution (INC-RES), and nonsense (NON). Differences in humor structure appreciation were investigated between a Czech and a Mac-edonian sample, and measurement invariance was tested.Participants and setting. Two online studies were conducted. After a back-translation of the scale, the first proposal of the Czech version of the HSAS was given to 145 participants from the Czech Republic. In the second study, the HSAS-CZ was completed by a Czech sample of 346 subjects. A measure of the need for closure was also completed to assess construct valid-ity. The Macedonian sample comprised of 562 subjects filled in only the original version of the HSAS.Results. Principal component analysis showed that the sum of variance explained by the two dimensions was 60.8%, and the factor loadings were satisfactory. The second study confirmed the factor structure of the scale. The results of the Confirmatory factor analyses showed that the two-factor model had acceptable fit (RMSEA = .053 [.034, .072], CFI = .986, TLI = .981). The standardized factor loadings were high for INC-RES (λ = .62 to .79), as well as for NON humor (λ = .57 to 80). Initial construct validity was obtained. The HSAS-CZ scales were theoretically related to the need for closure. The jokes were found funnier by the Macedonian sample in comparison to the Czech by one third to one half standard deviation. Finally, strict measurement invariance model comparing the Czech and Macedonian versions of the test showed an acceptable fit. However, significant differences were found in factor loadings as well as in residual variances.Limitations. The main limitation of the study is the use of convenience samples.

Objectives. The aim of the study was to adapt the CORE-OM measure to the Czech context and evaluate its psychometric properties. Sample and setting. CORE-OM, RSES, and SCL-90 were administered to 375 patients from four psychotherapy clinics (a clinical sample). Further, the first two measures were administered to 233 respondents from the general population (a non-clinical sample). Statistical analysis. The questionnaire structure was explored through an exploratory factor analysis, concurrent validity assessed using correlation with SCL-90 and RSES, and internal consistency using Cronbach’s alpha. The difference between the clinical and the non-clinical samples was determined by the Mann-Whitney test and sensitivity to change was assessed by the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Results. The factor analysis revealed a two factor structure. However, the factor solution for the clinical and the non-clinical samples differed. In the clinical sample, the internal consistency of the Total Score was α = 0,933, the Total Score correlated rs = 0,80 with GSI SCL- 90 and rs = -0,51 with RSES. The measure successfully differentiated between the clinical and the non-clinical samples. Using the Total Score, the clinical cutoff score had a value of c = 1,349 and the Reliable Change Index had a value of RCI = 0,445. The sensitivity to psychotherapy change was adequate (r ~ -0,35 to -0,50 for individual clinics). Study limitation. The data was obtained through casual sampling and did not include outpatients or respondents with a psychotic disorder. Evaluation of sensitivity to change was based solely on self-report measures.

Cíle. Cílem této studie bylo adaptovat zahraniční dotazník CORE-OM do českého prostředí a ověřit jeho psychometrické vlastnosti. Soubor a metoda. Testovou baterii zahrnující CORE-OM, RSES a SCL-90 vyplnilo 375 pacientů ze čtyř klinických pracovišť (klinický vzorek). První dva nástroje vyplnilo také 233 respondentů z běžné populace (neklinický vzorek). Analýza. Struktura dotazníku byla zjišťována pomocí explorační faktorové analýzy, souběžná validita prostřednictvím korelace s nástroji SCL-90 a RSES a vnitřní konzistence pomocí Cronbachova koeficientu alfa. Pro klinický výběr dosahovala vnitřní konzistence celkového skóru hodnoty α = 0,933, korelace celkového skóru s GSI SCL-90 nabývala hodnoty rs = 0,80 a s RSES rs = -0,51. Dotazník dobře rozlišoval mezi klinickým a neklinickým výběrem. U celkového skóru dosahoval hraniční skór hodnoty c = 1,349 a index spolehlivé změny RCI = 0,445.

Objectives. The study focuses on psychometric properties of the Czech version of The Perceived Hope Scale (PHS). Subjects and settings. The scale, along with measures of several related constructs, was completed by three samples of respondents aged between 18 and 80 years. A total of 2,396 respondents participated in the research. Statistical analysis. Cronbach’s alpha and Mc- Donald’s omega reliability coefficients were used for reliability estimation. The factor structure of the scale and its discriminant validity were tested through confirmatory factor analysis. Convergent validity of PHS with other measures was assessed using correlation analysis. Results. The PHS scale showed adequate reliability and construct, convergent and discriminatory validity. Loadings of PHS items on the main factor were all above .70. The PHS total score significantly negatively correlated with the intensity of symptoms of anxiety and depression measured by PHQ-4 (r = -.55). A strong association was found especially between the PHS score and optimism measured by LOTR (Pearson r = .72). The Czech version of the Perceived Hope Scale thus showed adequate psychometric properties and can be recommended for further use in the adult population. Limitations. A major limitation of the study is that samples consisted of predominantly female participants and those with a higher level of education. Unemployed, divorced and widowed individuals or individuals older than 50 years were not sufficiently represented.

Cíle. Cílem studie bylo ověřit psychometrické vlastnosti české verze Škály prožívané naděje (Perceived Hope Scale, PHS). Soubor a procedura. Faktorová struktura škály a její diskriminační validita byly ověřovány pomocí konfirmační faktorové analýzy. Výsledky. Škála PHS vykazovala adekvátní reliabilitu a konstruktovou, konvergentní a diskriminační validitu. Faktorové náboje všech položek škály PHS u hlavního faktoru byly vyšší než 0,70. Celkový skór PHS významně negativně koreloval s intenzitou depresivních a úzkostných příznaků měřených dotazníkem PHQ-4 (r = -0,55). Nezaměstnaní, rozvedení a ovdovělí jedinci a osoby starší 50 let nebyli dostatečně zastoupeni.

Objectives. The aim of the study was to test the psychometric properties of Czech version of the Shirom Melamed Burnout Measure (SMBM). Although this instrument has been translated to Czech language and used before, its validity has not yet been tested. Sample and settings. Representative sample of Czech working population has been used. The predefined quotas were: gender, age, education attained, size of city they currently live in and the region they come from. Combination of questioning methods was used: direct questioning for older population (50+) and online questionnaire for 25–50 years of age. Hypothesis. The hypothesis to prove was that Czech version of SMBM has high internal consistency. The second hypothesis was that Czech SMBM has three factors (like the English version) and these factors are: cognitive, physical and emotional burnout. Statistical analyses. In order to test hypothesis regarding the internal consistency, the Cronbach,s alpha was determined. In order to test the structure of the test, confirmatory factor analysis and IRT were employed. Results. Cronbach’s alpha and factor analysis pointed to high internal consistency and reliability of Czech version of SMBM. Czech version of SMBM is thus considered as reliable psychometric tool and the results of this study are comparable to other available research. Study limitation. Due to the fact that online questioning for larger part of the study sample was used, certain population might have been missed. The design of the study was crosssectional which bears another problem: it is not possible to determine whether it was only respondents, current situation or whether he/she has been suffering from burnout symptoms for a longer period of time.

Soubor a procedura.

Aim. Little research has focused on hypersensitive narcissism in Slavic countries. One of the reasons for that is the absence of suitable inventories. The present study aims to make the Ukrainian adapted translation of the Hypersensitive Narcissism Scale (HSNS) and to check for its psychometric properties in a non-clinical sample. Methods. To prepare materials, we first conducted a double-blind translation procedure with further linguistic analysis. The following two empirical studies to collect data for statistical analysis were then made. Results. The data shows adequate internal consistency and scale validity, as well as a three-factor structure (obtained with the principal components analysis [PCA]), in line with the theoretical background. However, the confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and Cronbach’s alphas analysis yield the unidimensional scale to be the best fit for the Ukrainian version. The data also support evidence for maladaptive social relationship patterns of people with high HSNS scores. Conclusion. We proved vulnerable and grandiose narcissism are qualitatively different phenomena and showed how a cultural context of narcissism manifestation may be reflected through social interactions and self-attitude. HSNS in Ukrainian is a reliable and valid tool for complex psychological personality research among non-clinical adult samples. Practical application. The proposed translation of the HSNS is adapted to be used for research in Ukrainian culture, with Ukrainian-speaking respondents and psychologists’ and psychotherapists’ clients.

Następnie dokonano adaptacji FFMQ na język polski (podwójna translacja i wstępna walidacja) i poddano to narzędzie procedurze walidacyjnej (analiza rzetelności, konfirmacyjna analiza czynnikowa, analiza korelacji z innymi testami mierzącymi różne aspekty psychologiczne: neurotyzm, stabilność emocjonalna, poziom ruminacji, otwartość na doświadczenie, ekstrawersja i refleksyjność).

In this research study the Polish adaptation of the Five Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire (FFMQ; Baer, Smith, Hopkins, Krietemeyer, & Toney, 2006) was developed based on strong results of empirical research. A model of mindfulness was presented in which five factors (Acting With Attention, Nonreactivity, Nonjudging, Observing, and Describing) are cited as essential in facilitating health and well-being. In this study the English version of 39-item FFMQ was used to develop the Polish adaptation. The psychometric properties of the Polish FFMQ were assessed in a sample of 800 people (200 artistically gifted young people aged 15-19 years and 600 adults aged 20-50 years) through a validation procedure (reliability analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and analysis of correlations with other tests measuring psychological variables such as neuroticism, emotional stability, rumination, openness to experience, extraversion, and reflection). The results confirmed the reliability of the test (Cronbach's a = .73-.86), except in the case of the Nonreactivity scale (a = 0,65-0,66) as well as the validity (4-factor hierarchical model without the Observing scale) of the Polish FFMQ for nonclinical populations aged 15-50 years. Replications in meditating samples and in patients are needed.

This study aims to present the translation and adaptation of the Job Dedication Scale into Czech. The final sample consisted of 142 workers in the social services of retirement homes across the Czech Republic, evaluated by their direct superiors on the Job Dedication Scale. The translation took the form of back translations using three independent translators. Descriptive statistics showed the negative skewness of the given ratings and the reduced variability of responses for some items. Despite the high value of internal consistency, the confirmatory factor analysis of the full version of the scale did not demonstrate agreement with the obtained data. Following the results of factor analyses and modification indices, residual correlations between selected items were allowed, which increased the quality of the tested model. The modified model showed a good match with the data. Values of the internal consistency of the scale were excellent. Eliminating any item would reduce this value. The small and specific sample is one of the limits of the study. Another limit is an approach to assessing the job dedication of the employee using only one evaluator.

Cílem této studie je představit překlad a adaptaci Škály pracovní dedikace (Job Dedication Scale) do češtiny. Výzkumný soubor tvořilo 142 pracovníků v sociálních službách domovů pro seniory napříč Českou republikou, kteří byli hodnoceni svými přímými nadřízenými Škálou pracovní dedikace. Překlad proběhl formou zpětných translací s využitím tří na sobě nezávislých překladatelů. Popisná statistika přinesla zjištění o negativní šikmosti udělených hodnocení a snížené variabilitě odpovědí u některých položek. Konfirmační faktorová analýza plné verze škály nepotvrdila i přes vysokou hodnotu vnitřní konzistence shodu modelu se získanými daty. V návaznosti na výsledky faktorových analýz a modifikačních indexů byly povoleny reziduální korelace mezi vybranými položkami, což zvýšilo kvalitu testovaného modelu. Výpočty vnitřní konzistence ukázaly excelentní hodnoty, přičemž vyřazení jakékoliv položky by tuto hodnotu snížilo. Limity studie spatřujeme v malém a specifickém výzkumném souboru, a také v přístupu k posuzování pracovní dedikace zaměstnance s využitím pouze jednoho hodnotitele.

Objectives Organizational justice is an important predictor of employees’ well-being and job performance. Colquitt’s Organizational Justice Measure (OJM) was designed to assess four aspects of justice – distributive, procedural, interpersonal and informational. The lack of a Polish version of the tool, however, has precluded its application in Poland. The objective of this study was to test the psychometric properties of the OJM in a Polish sample. Material and methods The validating study was conducted on 2 participant samples (N = 209 and N = 659), employed in public and private companies. Both the exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses (EFA, CFA) as well as the estimation of internal consistency with Cronbach’s α method were conducted. Predictive validity was assessed by correlating organizational justice with job-related factors and outcomes, including job resources and counterproductive work behavior. Results The EFA and CFA supported a 4-dimension model of the OJM Polish version. This model indicated a better fit to data than the alternatively tested 1-factor, 2-factor and 3-factor models. The internal consistency of the scales was satisfactory, ranging 0.81–0.93 for various subscales. As expected, the overall organizational justice and the four subscales correlated positively with job resources and negatively with counterproductive work behavior. Conclusions The Polish version of OJM has satisfactory psychometric properties and may be useful in assessing organizational justice in a Polish setting. There are insufficient suitable methods for assessing pupils’ social competence in the Czech Republic. The study aims to verify the psychometric properties of the instrument called The Walker-McConnell Scale of Social Competence and School Adjustment and initiate the process of adapting it to the Czech environment. The instrument is intended for teachers (or other teaching staff) who record their observations of the frequency of pupils’ given manifestations of social behaviour. The scale was answered by 15 class teachers and 15 teaching assistants who completed it for 307 pupils attending grades 1 to 5 from 15 different classes, with one class teacher and one teaching assistant from each class. Inter-rater agreement and confirmatory factor analysis were computed, revealing a low fit of the original instrument to the data. For that reason, the original version was modified, and a reduced version of the scale was created while preserving the original subscales. A limitation of the study is the fact that the full validation of the instrument was not conducted. The subsequent step in the validation process is verifying the instrument’s validity by another diagnostic method. The instrument is intended for use in school counselling practice.

The aim of the study was verification of the reliability as well as of the internal and theoretical consistency of the Polish abbreviated version of the Survey of Perceived Organizational Support. This tool is made up of eight statements regarding employee perception of organizational support. The sample consists of 484 employees from a Polish IT organization. The following tools were used to confirm the theoretical consistency of the Polish abbreviated version of the Survey of Perceived Organizational Support: Perceived Supervisor Support Scale, Organizational Commitment Scale, Michigan Organizational Assessment Questionnaire, Job Diagnostic Survey as well as a measure examining any intention to leave. The Polish version of the Survey of Perceived Organizational Support is a very reliable measure with good internal consistency. Factor analysis statistically confirmed that this tool consists of one dimension. Also, the theoretical consistency of this measure was confirmed in full. What were noticed were positive correlations among organizational support and supervisor support, organizational commitment, job satisfaction, and pay satisfaction as well as a negative correlation of the intention to leave. The Polish version of the Survey of Perceived Organizational Support can be recommended for use by researchers studying employee organizational support.

Objectives. To examine the psychometric properties of the Slovak version of the 10-item Scale of Perceived Stress (PSS-10, Cohen, Kamarack a Mermelstein, 1983), which is currently one of the most commonly used tools for measuring psychological stress (Lee, 2012). Sample and Setting. 482 employees (47 men, 435 women) of social institutions throughout Slovakia (mean age M = 44.76, SD = 10.25). The respondent completed the Slovak translation of the original English version of the PSS-10 scale, which was created by back-translation. Internal consistency (Cronbach’s alpha), verified questionnaire factor structure (CFA), and constructive (convergent and discriminatory) validity were examined. Statistical analysis. The SPSS 21.0 was used for quantitative data processing, and the Programme R was performed using for CFA. Results. The internal consistency coefficient reached following values: 0.83 (factor 1), 0.77 (factor 2) and 0.87 (for the whole range). The results of CFA confirmed the 2-factor structure of the Slovak version of the scale (RMSEA = 0.062, CFI = 0.94, NFI = 0.917). Due to the high correlation between the two PSS-10 factors, along with the insufficient level of reliability factor 2 and the risk that the negative formulation of the items contributed to the constitution of a standalone factor, the authors tend to use the overall score. Expected evidence for validity, positive correlations between perceived stress and burnout dimensions (Exhaustion, Depersonalization) and Secondary traumatic stress have been observed. On the contrary, significant negative correlations have been demonstrated in the case of Compassion satisfaction and Personal accomplishment. Conclusion. The Perceived Stress Scale PSS-10 has reached satisfactory values of reliability and validity that support its use for the population of helping professionals in the Slovak circumstance. Study limitation. There are certain limits of the research, one of which is the self-reported character of the verified scale and the other one is the fact that the test-retest reliability and the effect of age, length of practice and type of profession has not been studied.

Výskumný súbor a metóda. Očakávané pozitívne korelácie boli potvrdené medzi hodnotami vnímaného stresu a faktormi syndrómu vyhorenia (Emocionálnym vyčerpaním, Depersonalizáciou) a Sekundárnym traumatickým stresom. Naopak významné negatívne korelácie boli preukázané v prípade Zadosťučinenia z pomáhania a Osobného uspokojenia (spokojnosť s osobným výkonom a kompetenciami).

Objectives. The purpose of this study was to validate the Czech version of the 15-item Five Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire (FFMQ-15-CZ) and to examine its psychometric properties. Sample and setting. Two separate Czech samples were used. In Survey 1, the FFMQ was translated into Czech and then administered through an on-line survey. 2806 participants (sample 1) completed the FFMQ-CZ and the SWLS. In Survey 2, 279 participants (sample 2) completed the FFMQ-15-CZ, the SCS-CZ, the TOSCA-3, the GAD-7 and the PHQ-9. Statistical analysis. Using IBM SPSS Statistics- 23 and Amos-23, calculations of descriptive statistics, Cronbach’s alpha, Pearson correlation coefficients, test-retest analysis and confirmatory factor analysis were performed. Results. The confirmatory factor analysis (sample 1 and 2) confirmed the five-factor structure of FFMQ-15-CZ. A single higher-order factor model was then also confirmed. The Cronbach’s alpha coefficients for total FFMQ-15-CZ and subscales in survey 1/2 were as follows: FFMQ-15-CZ (α = 0,77/0,78), nonreactivity to inner experience (α = 0,69/0,65), observing (α = 0,64/0,52), acting with awareness (α = 0,71/0,69), describing (α = 0,83/0,79), nonjudging of inner experience (α = 0,79/0,78). As expected, in Survey 1 and 2, the FFMQ-15-CZ exhibited a significant positive correlation to measures of life satisfaction and self-compassion and a significant negative correlation to measures of shame-proneness, difficulties in emotion regulation, symptoms of anxiety and symptoms of depression. Study limitation. The samples used in this study were not representative of the general Czech population. In the future, it would be useful to further examine the psychometric properties of the FFMQ-15-CZ in a representative sample of the Czech population, in a sample of experienced meditators as well as in various clinical samples.

Objective: The objective was to  adapt the American pathological gambling screening tool /SOGS-RA The South Oaks Gambling Screen - Revised for Adolescent/ by K. Winters, R. Stinchfield and J. Fulkerson (1993) and to evaluate its psychometric properties. Method: The adapted tool was used in research on a randomly selected sample of 2,617 adolescents aged 13-20 years in the 2012/2013 school year. Results: On the SOGS-RA scale, 2.6% of the trial participants achieved a score indicating past year problem gambling before the survey, 4.1% were classified as problem gamblers, whereas 17.3% of adolescents engaged in social gambling that did not pose a problem gambling risk at the time. The SOGS-RA demonstrated satisfactory internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha = 0.78). Conclusions: The Polish adaptation of the SOGS-RA scale is reliable and accurate, which is why it is worth recommending it for use in further research on Polish adolescents.

The purpose of this study was to develop and validate the Czech Version of the Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale Short Form (DERS-SF-CZ) and to examine its psychometric properties. The DERS-SF was translated into Czech with a back-translation procedure and then administered through an on-line survey. 364 participants (70 men, 294 women) completed the SCS-CZ, GAD-2 and PHQ-2. The confirmatory factor analysis confirmed the six-factor structure of the DERS-SF-CZ (χ2/df=1,84, SRMR=0.050, RMSEA=0.048, CFI=0.963, TLI=0.953, GFI=0.935). A single higher-order factor model was also confirmed (χ2/df=2,06, SRMR=0.064, RMSEA=0.054, CFI=0.951, TLI=0.942, GFI=0.923). Nevertheless, the awareness factor did not have any effect on the second order factor in this hierarchical model (βaw=0,03 R2aw=0,001). The Cronbach’s alpha coefficients for total DERS-SF-CZ and subscales were as follows: DERS-SF-CZ (α=0,86), awareness (α=0,65), clarity (α=0,72), non-acceptance (α=0,83), goals (α=0,84), impulse (α=0,88), strategies (α=0,80). As expected, the DERS-SF-CZ demonstrated a significant positive correlation with anxiety and depressive symptoms questionnaires. The results support further use of the DERS-SF-CZ in clinical practice and research.

Cílem této pilotní studie bylo vytvořit a validizovat českou verzi krátké formy Škály potíží v regulaci emocí (DERS-SF-CZ) a prověřit její psychometrické vlastnosti. DERS-SF byla nejprve s využitím postupu zpětného překladu přeložena do češtiny a následně byla administrována prostřednictvím webového rozhraní. 364 respondentů (70 mužů, 294 žen) vyplnilo DERS-SF-CZ, GAD-2 a PHQ-2. Konfirmační faktorová analýza potvrdila šestifaktorovou strukturu DERS-SF-CZ (χ2/df=1,84, SRMR=0,050, RMSEA=0,048, CFI=0,963, TLI=0,953, GFI=0,935). Potvrzen byl i model s jedním společným faktorem druhého řádu (χ2/df=2,06, SRMR=0,064, RMSEA=0,054, CFI=0,951, TLI=0,942, GFI=0,923). Faktor uvědomování nicméně neměl v tomto hierarchickém modelu na faktor druhého řádu žádný vliv (βaw=0,03 R2aw=0,001). Hodnoty Cronbachových koeficientů alfa byly u DERS-SF-CZ a jednotlivých subškál následující: DERS-SF-CZ (α=0,86), uvědomování (α=0,65), porozumění (α=0,72), neakceptování (α=0,83), cíle (α=0,84), impulzivita (α=0,88), strategie (α=0,80). Podle očekávání byly zjištěny významné pozitivní korelace DERS-SF-CZ s dotazníky měřícími příznaky úzkosti a deprese. Výsledky podporují další využití DERS-SF-CZ v klinické praxi i výzkumu.

The purpose of this pilot study was to develop and validate the Czech Version of the 7-item Nonattachment to Self Scale (NTS-CZ) and to examine its psychometric properties. The NTS was translated into Czech with a back-translation procedure and then administered through an online survey. 782 participants (165 men, 617 women) completed the NTS-CZ, the 15-item version of the Five Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire (FFMQ-15-CZ), and the Sussex-Oxford Compassion for the Self Scale (SOCS-S-CZ). The confirmatory factor analysis confirmed the one-factor structure of the NTS-CZ (SRMR = 0.037, RMSEA = 0.082, CFI = 0.972, TLI = 0.950). The Cronbach’s alpha coefficient for the NTS-CZ was α = 0.85. As expected, the NTSCZ demonstrated high positive correlations with mindfulness and self-compassion questionnaires. The results support further use of the NTS-CZ in psychological research.
