This publication analyzes the situation of businesses in the context of global pandemics. The aim is to discuss the potential impact, the readiness of companies and solutions. Business is important not only for the business units themselves or for the residents of the country, it is the foundation of the entire state economy. Both the public sector and the private sector are closely interlinked. At present, the coronavirus Covid-19, which is spreading all over the world, and the quarantine introduced in many countries are of great importance to business. This pandemic is considered one of the strongest in the last century. Today’s situation allows us to look back and look at previous global pandemics, to analyze what developments in business have taken place in previous years. This paper also presents theoretical considerations and insights with a slight path for possible solutions for different types of businesses.

The opinion presents legal grounds regarding the application of quarantine and liability for damages of the State Treasury. Simultaneously, the conditions required for the State Treasury to be liable for damages in a specific case of quarantine were indicated and discussed. In addition, the opinion highlights the possibility of pursuing claims for infringement of moral rights if the quarantine is unlawfully applied (e.g. by a wrong authority or in the absence of legal grounds for its application to a specific person).

The commentary analyses the interim order of the Council of State of 18 May 2020 in the case of M.W. and Others, declaring the maintenance – during the first phase of the relaxation of the quarantine restrictions – of the ban on meetings and assemblies in places of worship, with the exception of funeral ceremonies involving up to 20 people, to be a serious and obviously unlawful infringement of freedom of religion. A counterpoint to this analysis is the preceding presentation of European law regulations and the position of the reference European courts on this subject.

Background Human-animal interaction (HAI) offers benefits across physical, emotional, psychological, and social spheres of human functioning. The aim of this paper is to delineate how animal companionship, via provision of HAI benefits, offers vital support to people experiencing the COVID-19 pandemic and associated stressors. Method Each of the empirically supported types of HAI benefits – physical, emotional, psychological, and social – will be situated within a biopsychosocial framework of human functioning and considered in terms of how they may help to ameliorate stressors specifically related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Findings Benefits derived from animal companionship may help alleviate physical, emotional, psychological, and social stressors specifically related to experiencing the COVID-19 pandemic. Discussion Benefits of animal companionship may be particularly salient for well-being and coping when people are experiencing a dramatic increase in stressors via a pandemic crisis. Community responses need to include plans (pet food pantries, temporary foster care, veterinary access/zoonotic safety) for keeping people and their companion animals together during such difficult times. Originality/value This article is unique in that it delineates the animal companionship benefits in terms of how such may help alleviate stressors associated with a pandemic.

The authors have determined that the healthcare system is on the verge of collapse, as it is unable to meet the population’s growing needs for medical care. An analysis of demographic situation and health indices of the adult population in the north-eastern region of Ukraine (based on the example of the Sumy region) was carried out. The study confirms the number of deaths caused by COVID-19, the growth of new cases of coronavirus, and the excessive burden on primary care physicians and infectious disease specialists. It has been determined that the negative state of the domestic healthcare system is due to the shortcomings of public administration and organisation of this system in terms of COVID-19. One of the most important priorities of public policy should be to preserve and strengthen the health of the population, the development of intersectoral cooperation on the principle of ‘healthcare – in all state policies’, and the priority of the nation itself, i.e. the formation of healthy behaviour.

This paper reports on the ongoing impact of Covid-19 pandemic in daily life in Argentina, highlighting the initial consequences of the quarantine established on March 20th in an attempt to control the outbreak. We focus on the perception of the role of political authorities, the media and the impact on habits in everyday life, which are being re-shaped in this new context. Online interviews were conducted in different cities of the North, Center and South of Argentina, including the capital, Buenos Aires. This is an exploratory analysis of an ongoing public health event whose consequences are presently far from clear, but its current contours have forced people to modify their daily routines, if not their lives. We highlight extreme reactions, ranging from “indifference” to “panic” or “selfishness” with “solidarity” emerging as the desirable and adequate response to the situation of “mandatory social isolation” or quarantine. Amid the uncertainty regarding the present and the future, novel contours emerge that account for the specificity of a South American country marked by recurrent economic and social crises throughout almost its entire history. Argentina was already struggling with financial difficulties, rising poverty and a fragile labour market characterized by high rates of unemployment and informality. This already delicate scenario was worsened by the sudden irruption of the first cases of Covid-19.

Ochrona zdrowia, o której mowa w art. 68 ust.

Health protection, as referred to in article 1 section 68 of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland does not only concern ensuring access to healthcare services for everyone, but also combating epidemic diseases and preventing the negative health effects of environmental degradation. One of the manifestations of a preventive form of health protection are the activities of authorized bodies aimed at ensuring food safety and hygiene. However, this does not mean consent to the lack of respect for other constitutionally guaranteed human rights and freedoms and the principles of correct legislation. The act of imposing a quarantine based on a legal act issued in violation of the above-mentioned legal rules is then ineffective.

ObjectivesThe disease caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), termed COVID-19, is asymptomatic or mild in most cases. These patients do not need treatment in hospital and can be isolated at home. To date, most studies have been conducted among inpatients with severe COVID-19. In this study, the authors surveyed patients with mild COVID-19 who remained in home isolation, and analyzed the sources and occupational risk factors for SARS-CoV-2 infections.Material and MethodsThis cross-sectional study was carried out on April 17–18, 2020, among patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 who remained in home isolation in Poland. Data were acquired through a structured interview that included questions about the isolation course, symptoms, comorbidities, infection source, household characteristics, occupation, and workplace. Data were presented with descriptive statistics.ResultsOf the 4878 patients in home isolation, the authors were able to contact 3313. Of them, 1191 patients declined their invitation, and 2122 agreed to take part. The median age of the patients included in the study was 50 years; 59% were female. Most patients (92%) had not been abroad before the infection. More than half (55%) knew how they became infected; of them, 75% became infected at work. Of all patients, 70% were occupationally active. Nearly half of the occupationally active patients (48%) worked in healthcare, 3% worked in public administration or defense, 3% worked in transportation, and 2% worked in education. Sixty-five percent of the occupationally active patients worked in companies with >100 employees.ConclusionsMost of the patients with COVID-19 in home isolation in Poland were occupationally active, wherein the majority of people who were aware of the source of SARS-CoV-2 infection worked in healthcare. As most of the infected patients worked in companies with >100 employees, which is not a Polish employment pattern, the authors expect that smaller companies may have a lower risk of SARS-CoV-2 infections.

Introduction and aim. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused significant changes in human life. As a result of these changes, it is important to determine the effects on the child and family life. This study was conducted to determine the challenges experienced by children and their families while home quarantine in the pandemic. Material and methods. The study was conducted with parents who had children aged 6-18, use social media, and willing to participate in the study. A total of 450 parents participated in the study. Online survey was used. Results. It was determined that some of parental daily activities decreased (doing sports, communicating with friends, engaging in hobbies) and some of them increased (personal hygiene, internet, and playing games with their children). The decreased daily activities of children (doing sports and communicating with friends) and increased activities (eating, personal hygiene, internet, and social media use, playing with toys and technological devices) were detected. There was an increase in some of the family activities (watching movies, playing games, and studying). Conclusion. It was determined that the home quarantine in the pandemic led to some negative changes in the daily living habits, lifestyles, and feelings of the family.

One of the basic measures to prevent the spread of many infectious diseases is to distance oneself from other people. It is therefore no coincidence that in the time of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Polish legislator has resorted to such solutions as home isolation of patients, quarantine of people who have come into contact with the infected, and restrictions on the activities of institutions gathering many people. Similar methods were used in other countries. One of the more dramatic side effects of the ban on leaving home is the exposure of isolated people to violence in the household. The simultaneous suspension of the activity of aid institutions makes it much more difficult for the victim to obtain support. The text deals with the problem of legal and factual measures to counteract domestic violence in conditions of separation. The authorsanalyze Polish legal regulations, both those introduced for the purpose of counteracting domestic violence and those specifically, related to combating the virus. They are looking for answers to the question of what measures are effective in combating domestic violence in the extreme time of the pandemic. They recognize, however, that the experiences from this period can increase the level of protection of victims of violence at all times.

The article discusses the actions taken to prevent epidemiological risks over the centuries. A method of reference books analysis was used as a tool. Cyclic mutations of existing pathogens, and the emergence of the new ones that could cause infections in humans, animals or plants, impose a continuous ability to adapt exisiting solutions or to create new ones that help fight the above mentioned phenomenon efficiently. The work presents the process, description of civil protection and change in the approach to infectious diseases together with the development of medicine in the country and all over the world in the selected examples.

The article touches on the subject of space as a place, image and inspiration for psychological change. This is important for artists who are creatively observing and designing space so that they can create not only a place in the inner world, but also in the [outer] one. The art of designing and observing space can become a rite of passage (initiation). A ceremony in which the liminal space plays a central role – a place of transformation, waiting, being on the doorstep, in the transition between the present life and some new unknown form, “being in between” (betwixt and between). This is where the core of myself, my own self, my home in me, is revealed. Photography can become an image and assistant of the rite of passage, analogous to the process of psychotherapy. The article presents the author’s photographs of liminal space, which, by illustrating the threshold, “being in between”, “both this and that”, inspire the described “multi-point”, or rather “spatial”, perception of the world and myself.
