In the article there have been presented concepts of time elaborated by philosophers such as Plotinus, St. Augustine, Xenofanes, Heraclitus, Democritus, Platon, Aristotle, Newton, Hegel, Bergson, Husserl, Heidegger, Nietzsche and others. In context of sociological analysis there have been taken into consideration approaches of Marks, Weber, Durkheim, Mead and Schutz. Thanks to the analysis of the contemporary transformations of the approach to time and its social forms, the issues such as commodification, compression, colonization and breaking of the continuity of time have been enhanced. There is a clear relationship between morality and the attitude to time, to the time management and its valuation and to treating time as the regulator of the self-activity. The attitude to time as well as the effort to free oneself from its determining influence, is being changed together with the transformations of the conditions of life of the society.

The article is an attempt to trace the transformation of values from the perspective of twenty years of transformation on the example of four generations of youth, which revealed their presence in the discourse of the press. Reconstruction of the discursive images of Polish youth, appearing in media communications by „Gazeta Wyborcza”, „Dialy. Poland - Europe – World”, „Universal Weekly” and „Political Review”, based on the analysis of structures, rules and resources, according to Anthony Giddens, was confronted with the basic categories of normative order, and their systems proposed by the Marek Ziółkowski. Analysis of symbolic activity of youth, as ways of defining reality and normative beliefs revealed a convergence of Marek Ziółkowski intuitions. According to this logic, during the process of transformation, the pragmatic awareness of Polish society began being the most significant. The same process we can observe analyzing the discursive images of Polish youth. The presented analysis shows that all generations participate in more material world. Such world creates a natural environment for pragmatic „thoughts and actions”, which may result in a society with economic morality.
