In this article, we analyze the protests that took place in Poland after the Constitutional Court handed down its sentence (October 22, 2020) that strengthened the current abortion law. Using sociological categories concerning new social movements and collective actions, we try to explain what was happening on the streets of Polish cities at the turn of autumn and winter 2020. Based on our own activist experiences in Toruń and analysis of existing data, we describe the nature of protest actions, explain their wide scale, and confront the controversies and questions that surrounded the actions of the Women’s Strike and co-protesters.

W artykule poddajemy analizie protesty mające miejsce w Polsce po ogłoszeniu wyroku przez Trybunał Konstytucyjny (22 października 2020 r.), który zaostrzył obowiązujące prawo aborcyjne. Używając kategorii socjologicznych, dotyczących nowych ruchów społecznych i działań zbiorowych, staramy się wyjaśnić, co działo się na ulicach polskich miast na przełomie jesieni i zimy 2020 roku. Opierając się na własnych aktywistycznych doświadczeniach oraz analizie danych zastanych, opisujemy charakter działań protestacyjnych, wyjaśniamy ich szeroką skalę oraz mierzymy się z kontrowersjami i pytaniami, które dotyczyły działań Strajku Kobiet i współprotestujących. Z uwagi na własne zaangażowanie w działania protestacyjne w Toruniu, opisujemy przykłady konkretnych działań, które miały miejsce w mieście.

2_Through the close analysis of Prokůpek´s fiction, his correspondence and preceding interpretations of both the man and his work, this article serves as one model for how this historical polarization might finally be overcome. In his fiction, Prokůpek never strays from the perspective and problems of the struggling Czech farmer, and the central contention of this article is that Prokůpek´s work, his response to the Occupation and to the post-1948 government is best understood as both a defence and an active realization of the farmer´s approach to life.
